Road developments in city were not for Ivanka, says KTR

0

Responding to few allegations made by opposition parties earlier during Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) on road developments that were taken up in the view of Ivanka Trump’s visit, Municipal and IT minister K. T. Rama Rao on Wednesday made it clear that the road developments were under the Strategic Road Development Project (SRDP) and the projects are still being continued.

Speaking to media persons, the minister said that the government took up SRDP project with an estimation of Rs. 23,000 crore. “We are developing Hyderabad City as No. 1. Besides this, the projects with an estimation of Rs. 2,900 crore are being continued for the development of New Roads. We are developing roads in Hyderabad with Rs. 1,000 crore. We took up these projects last year and there was no priority for Ivanka’s visit,” he said.

He further said, “At present there is no schedule of visit of any Trump. But, we are developing roads under SRDP. Works are under progress to develop large express ways from JBS to Rajiv Rahadari, Patny to Bowenpally as like as P.V. Expressway. Works for the construction of a skyway from Uppal to Narapally have already been taken up.”

Naidu’s grand vision that failed to materialize

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s efforts to invite Ivanka Trump to Amaravathi did not yield results. According to reports, Ivanka turned down the CM plea to come to Andhra Pradesh. This is the news doing rounds recently and by seeing this, one gets the impression that AP tried hard to bring Ivanka who is coming to Hyderabad for GES. But there are reports that much before Ivanka’s trip to Hyderabad was finalized, Babu tried to bring her to Visakhapatnam (Not Amaravathi), however the grand vision failed to materialize because of various reasons. Details as below.

Much before Hyderabad, AP govt had pitched hard for the GES to be held at Visakhapatnam. The state was quick to respond to a call from NITI Aayog regarding this and provide the venue at Visakhapatnam. In a PPT presentation to NITI Aayog in August 2016, they (representatives of AP govt) explained to NITI Aayog about how they are planning to have GES at Visakhapatnam and emphasized the city is chosen as smart city by central government. They in fact impressed and stunned NITI Aayog members when they suggested AP is planning to lease luxury cruise liners from Europe to accommodate delegates. Though the idea of having a floating five star cruise hotels to accommodate delegates attending GES was astounding, finally the idea of having GES at Visakhapatnam was turned down because of various reasons.

Mainly, security and scarcity of good hotels at Vizag are the reasons for not choosing Vizag as venue for GES summit. Krishna Kishore, CEO of AP economic development board told, we made since efforts but could not succeed because of lack of global scale infrastructure. Now the AP government is planing to build a convention centre per global standards. Had this been successful, Andhra Pradesh government, “brand building” efforts would have been on grand display and AP could have got opportunity to interact with potential global investors and explained about the opportunities in Sun rise state.

Returning home after two-day visit to attend Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) here, Ivanka Trump, daughter and advisor of US President Donald Trump, on Wednesday termed her visit “remarkable”.

US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster, India’s Ambassador to the US, Navtej Sarna and other officials saw her off at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on the city outskirts.

Earlier, she reached the airport in a long motorcade from Trident Hotel in Hitec City amid tight security.

While departing, she tweeted that her visit to Golconda Fort was a perfect end of a remarkable visit.

“Tour of Golkonda Fort with members of the US delegation prior to departing Hyderabad. The perfect end to a remarkable visit,” she tweeted with a picture with the US delegates at the historic fort.

Ivanka, who led the US delegation at GES, had arrived in the city in the early hours of Tuesday. The same evening she attended the inaugural session of the three-day event inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The White House advisor also attended a dinner hosted by Modi for her and other GES delegates at Taj Falaknuma, the palace hotel.

She addressed another session at GES on Wednesday and later met some prominent women entrepreneurs.

Ivanka Trump visits Golconda Fort

Ivanka Trump, daughter and advisor of US President Donald Trump, on Wednesday visited historic Golconda Fort here.

On the second and last day of her visit to this city to attend Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), she visited the fort located about 15 km from the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), the venue of the summit.

After attending a session in the morning on the second day, Ivanka went back to Trident Hotel, where she is staying.

She later left for the fort, which was the capital of the Qutub Shahi kingdom from 1518 to 1687.

US security agencies and the local police had made security arrangements. The fort was closed for tourists and police imposed restrictions on traffic in the surroundings.

The Telangana government is also hosting a dinner for the GES guests at the Golconda Fort on Wednesday. However, Ivanka will not attend that dinner as she would be flying back on Wednesday evening.

She was earlier expected to visit the Charminar, symbol of Hyderabad located in the old city. The plans, however, were dropped on security grounds, police sources said.

Since all the security arrangements were already in place at the fort for the dinner, the security agencies cleared the proposal for a sightseeing tour of the fort.

Ivanka on Tuesday attended dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday at Taj Falaknuma, the palace hotel in the old city.

Five-course menu served at Falaknuma dinner

0

Dahi ke kebab, Gosht shikampuri kebab, Kubani ke malai kofta, Murgpista ka salan and Sitaphal kulfi were some of the delicacies of five-course menu served at Tuesday’s dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Ivanka Trump and other GES delegates at the Taj Falaknuma.

The daughter and advisor of US President Donald Trump spent a couple of hours at the iconic palace in the old city of Hyderabad.

Besides Modi and Ivanka Trump, the dinner on 101 table, the most opulent and the longest dining table in the world, had Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, ICICI CEO Chanda Kochhar, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrashekaran.

The Palace’s team of culinary experts, led by Executive Chef Sajesh Nair, presented a five-course menu inspired by Hyderabadi, Telangana and Nizami cuisine.

Aghaz (soup), Mezban (appetizers), Waqfa (sorbet), Mashgool Dastarkhwan (main course) and Zauq-e-shahi (dessert) were the courses served.

The signature menu also gave the distinguished guests a taste of rare Indian ingredients such as sandalwood, saffron and figs, said the palace hotel.

“Our chefs have worked tirelessly to recreate a unique dining experience from the Nizam’s kitchen and we are certain to create memories for PM Modi and Ms. Trump that will last a lifetime,” said Ritesh Sharma, GM, Taj Falaknuma Palace.

The table decor was inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Deccan region.

Rare artefacts and silver decorative pieces were brought in from the Nizam’s private collection at Chowmahalla Palace; while all upholstery used during the dinner was made with locally sourced fabrics such as Ikkat, Teliya and Velvet.

Ivanka Trump’s welcome ritual began with a traditional ‘aarti’ and lighting of the lamp ceremony. All dignitaries to the glittering event were also welcomed with local ‘mogras’ and rose flowers.

Butlers dressed in traditional sherwanis and vibrant headgear represented India’s ceremonial customs.

The elaborate dining set up was laid out with the palace’s premium collection of glassware and silverware, along with personalised menus for each guest.

A gong was played to signify the beginning of each course and a personal butler served each of the 101 diners.

Modi hard sells India, Ivanka for equitable laws for women

PM Modi at Global Entrepreneurship Summit

A three-day international summit of entrepreneurs started here on Tuesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hard selling India and inviting investors from across the globe to invest in India taking advantage of a friendly climate while President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka said much remains to be done with regard to equitable laws for women in many developing as well as developed countries.

“To my entrepreneur friends from across the globe, I would like to say: Come, Make in India, Invest in India – for India, and for the world. I invite each one of you to become a partner in India’s growth story. And once again assure you of our whole-hearted support,” Modi said while inaugurating the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit here.

The event, being co-hosted here by the US and India, is being attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors and eco-system supporters from 159 countries.

Modi told young entrepreneurs from India that each of them has something valuable to contribute towards creating a New India by 2022. “You are vehicles of change and instruments of India’s transformation.”

“My government understands that an environment of transparent policies and a rule of law providing a level-playing field are necessary for entrepreneurship to flourish.

Listing various steps taken by his government in the last over three years in improving the business climate, Modi said the jump in India’s ranking in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing business Report from 142 to 100 in three years was a result of this.

“My government understands that an environment of transparent policies and a rule of law providing a level-playing field are necessary for entrepreneurship to flourish.

“A historic overhaul of the taxation system has been recently undertaken, bringing in the Goods and Services Tax across the country. Our Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code introduced in 2016 is a step towards ensuring timely resolution for stressed ventures. We have recently improved this further, preventing wilful defaulters from bidding for stressed assets,” he said.

Touching on demonetisation, the Prime Minister said tough measures have been adopted to tackle the parallel economy, check tax evasion and control black money.

“Our efforts have been recognised by Moody’s recent upgrade of India’s government bond ratings. This upgrade comes after a gap of almost 14 years.”

India, he said, has improved its rank from 54 in 2014 to 35 on the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index. This signifies the relative ease and efficiency with which products can be moved into and from a country.

“An investment-friendly environment needs to be stable from the macro-economic perspective. We have succeeded in containing the fiscal and current account deficits and curbing inflation. Our foreign exchange reserves have crossed USD 400 billion and we continue to attract large foreign capital flows,” he said.

Speaking before the prime minister, Ivanka, who is also the US President’s Adviser, said: “When it comes to equitable laws, while many developed and developing countries have made tremendous strides, there is still much work to be done.”

She said in some countries, women are not allowed to own property, travel freely, or work without the consent of their husbands. In some other countries, the cultural and family pressure is so great that women do not feel the freedom to work outside the home.

“Our administration is striving to promote greater opportunity for women around the world, both through our domestic reforms and our international initiatives,” she said.

She also said that when women work, it creates a “multiplier effect”, and leads to more reinvestment in families and society.

“When women work, it creates a unique multiplier effect. Women are more likely than men to hire other women, and to give them access to capital, mentorship and networks. Women are also more likely to reinvest their income back in their families and communities,” she said.

She also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his belief that progress of humanity is incomplete without the empowerment of women.

“Just consider, if India closes the labour force gender gap by half, your economy could grow by over $150 billion in the next three years,” she said.

Noting that this is the first time India has hosted the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, Ivanka said it is a symbol of the strengthened friendship between our two peoples, and the growing economic and security partnership between our two nations.

Complimenting India for being one of the fastest growing economies globally, lifting millions out of poverty and for the progress achieved in science and technology, Trump said: “The people of India inspire us all.”

“The people of India have lifted more than 130 million citizens out of poverty. All of you are helping India’s middle class reach its goal of becoming 500 million people by 2030.”

This year’s summit is focused on a theme: Women First, Prosperity for All.

Stressing on women’s achievements in India, Modi said: “In Indian mythology, woman is an incarnation of Shakti – the Goddess of power. We believe women empowerment is vital to our development.”

“Indian women continue to lead in different walks of life. Our space programmes, including the Mars Orbiter Mission, have had immense contribution from our women scientists. Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams, both of Indian origin, have been part of US space missions,” he added.

Talking about Indian women empowerment, Modi added: “We have launched the MUDRA scheme to provide easy finance of upto one million rupees to entrepreneurs. Since its launch in 2015, over 90 million loans worth 4.28 trillion rupees have been sanctioned. Of these, more than 70 million loans have been sanctioned to women entrepreneurs.”

The US State Department and other American agencies in partnership with NITI Aayog, India’s think tank, are organising GES, which seeks to create an environment that empowers innovators, particularly women, to take their ideas to the next level.

The delegates include about 400 each from India and the US and the remaining from the rest of the world.

This is the 8th GES which brings together entrepreneurs, investors and eco-system supporters for mentoring, networking and investment matchmaking. This is the first time that the event is being held in South Asia.

GES reflects US-India economic, security partnership: Ivanka Trump

0

The holding of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) for the first time in India reflects the growing security and economic partnership between America and India, Ivanka Trump, the daughter of US President Donald Trump and his Advisor, said on Tuesday.

The three-day event, being co-hosted here by the US and India, is being attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs, investors and eco-system supporters from 159 countries.

“This is the first time India has hosted the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. It is a symbol of the strengthened friendship between our two peoples, and the growing economic and security partnership between our two nations,” Trump said in her address at the inaugural session of the GES.

“As President Trump said earlier this year: India has a true friend in the White House,” she noted, without specifying the recent pronouncements of the US administration favourable to India in the area of security, diplomacy and cooperation.

This is the first time that the event is being held in South Asia.

Complimenting India for being one of the fastest growing economies globally, lifting millions out of poverty and for the progress acheived in science and technology, Trump said: “The people of India inspire us all.”

“The people of India have lifted more than 130 million citizens out of poverty. All of you are helping India’s middle class reach its goal of becoming 500 million people by 2030.”

“Its wonderful to be in this ancient city brimming with transformative technology,” she said referring to Hyderabad.

“Now, your tech centers may even outshine your world famous biryani,” she added.

Trump noted that Hyderabad-based startups incubator T-Hub’s “brand new facility is set to open next year and will become the largest incubator in Asia”.

Referring to the theme of the the 8th GES — Women First, Prosperity For All — Trump said this is the “key to our future”.

“I am proud that for the first time ever, women make up the majority of the 1,500 entrepreneurs selected to attend,” she said.

The US State Department and other American agencies in partnership with India’s NITI Aayog are organising the GES, which seeks to create an environment that empowers innovators, particularly women, to take their ideas to the next level.

A personal initiative of former US President Barack Obama to bring entrepreneurs from across the globe on one platform, the GES made a beginning in 2010 in Washington and thereafter it has been hosted by Turkey, the UAE, Malaysia, Morocco and Kenya.

Police searches near Falaknuma ahead of PM’s dinner for Ivanka

0

Hyderabad police on Friday conducted cordon and search in residential areas around Taj Falaknuma, the palace hotel in the old city of Hyderabad where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be hosting dinner for Ivanka Trump and other delegates of Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) on November 28.

The search operations were conducted in Madina Colony, Bibi Ka Chashma and Vatepally from 5.30 to 8.30 a.m.

Police also conducted census of the residents of Farooq Nagar, Fatima Nagar, Al- Jubail Colony and Jangammet areas surrounding Falaknuma and collected data, a senior official said.

They have urged people not to entertain or give shelter to any stranger and inform police about the relatives visiting them.

Police were keeping a tight vigil and surveillance in the colonies surrounding the palace located in the old city of Hyderabad, considered a sensitive area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Satyanarayana told reporters that during cordon and search operations on Friday, 60 persons were taken in custody and their antecedents were being verified. Eight persons having criminal history were also picked up.

Two Omani nationals were among those taken in custody and police were verifying their claim that they were in the city for medical treatment.

The DCP over 250 policemen including additional deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners conducted cordon and search operations

Ivanka’s India visit to be mix of business, history

0

US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump’s visit to India next week will not be just a trip to attend the business conclave as she will also be exploring this historic city of pearls.

Ivanka Trump, who is also the advisor to the US President, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) on November 28 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), located in Hitec City, the information technology hub housing many US tech giants.

A business owner herself, she will also speak at a session with the theme ‘Women first, prosperity for all’. About 1,500 delegates, over half of them women, from 150 countries will participate in the three-day summit.

On evening of November 28, she will make a trip to Falaknuma Palace located on a hillock in the Muslim-majority old city of Hyderabad.

She will not only attend the dinner being hosted by Modi but will also get an opportunity to see the opulent palace, a symbol of a long Muslim rule and culture.

Trump, along with Modi and top US and Indian officials, will dine at 101-seater dining table, one of the longest in the world and a key attraction of the palace, which served as the residence of Nizam, the ruler of erstwhile Hyderabad State.

Built in 1893, the scorpion-shaped, all marble palace with its opulent interiors and breathtaking views was converted into a hotel by the Taj Group about a decade ago.

Trump will take a guided tour of Falaknuma, a majestic blend of Italian and Tudor architecture.

Her visit to the old city might also include a sight-seeing trip to Charminar, the iconic symbol of Hyderabad and globally recognised monument, located about three km from Falaknuma and surrounded by densely populated neighbourhoods and dingy lanes.

An epitome of architectural marvel, Charminar with four distinct minarets, was built in 1591 by then ruler Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah to commemorate the founding of the city.

For any tourist, a visit to Hyderabad is incomplete without Charminar.

Trump is also likely to go for shopping at Laadbazar, a market famous for Lac bangles and bridal wear, at Charminar.

While Trump’s schedule is being kept a closely-guarded secret by the US authorities due to a ‘high threat perception’, Telangana government officials have not ruled out the possibility of her visit to historic Makkah Masjid and Chowmohalla Palace, both located near Charminar.

Hyderabadis thank Ivanka: Satirical post viral in social media

0

Hyderabadis thank Ivanka

Hyderabad people are expressing their deepest gratitude to Ms Ivanka for her visit to Hyderabad. She will be in Hyderabad for Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which will be held in Hyderabad from November 28 to 30. The netizens took this opportunity to express their gratitude on social media. Of course this is a satire, as TS government took the measures on war footage to show Ivanka, a beautiful Hyderabad. The viral post is as below:

*Dear Ms. Ivanka Trump. As a citizen of India, especially as a citizen of Hi-tech city, Hyderabad, I would like to express my deepest gratitude and thanks for coming to Hyderabad. Your gesture of coming to Hyderabad has made our lives at Hi-tech city so glad. We are used to disgustingly terrible and bumpy roads in this place. Thus, we used to get stuck daily in traffic jams. As you are planning to visit this place, my government has ensured the roads look clean and smooth. Thus, for the past 2 days, there have been no traffic jams. We are highly grateful to you for easing our lives in India. Also, let me request you to visit Hyderabad at least twice in a year. In case you are busy, please send your pet at least, as your pet is lot more precious and worth than the citizens who strive to live here and pay taxes. Thank you very much Ms. Ivanka Trump “.

To be frank, though people are really happy for nice roads in Hydeabad for past couple days, they got a a question that whether only visiting delegates deserve such quality roads in Hyderabad but they, the tax payers, do not deserve those roads? Also everyone got surprised as all these works are completed in just a week of time, letting people know how fast a government can be if it REALLY wants to do some “concrete” work. Earlier also Hyderabad police moved all the beggars in the city to rehabilitation centers so that they will not be in sight when foreign delegates visit and this move drawn criticism that it is an insensitive move.

There is nothing wrong in giving superior treatment to visiting delegates, especially in the country that believes “Athidhi Devobhava”. But the residents should get at least normal treatment that they deserve. Citizens just requesting one thing – these new roads will be good for around 3 months and by that time Ivanka’s visit and other international conferences happening in Hyderabad will be over. If the government is really serious and concerns its citizens/ residents, they should make all efforts to maintain the roads the same way as they are now, even after all these delegates left.

Insensitive move: concealing Hyderabad’s beggars during Ivanka’s visit

0

Hyderabad police commissioner banned begging within the city limits till January 7 as Ivanka Trump will be in the city for Global Entrepreneurship Summit to be held in Hyderabad. The Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which will be held in Hyderabad from November 28 to 30, will see a galaxy of dignitaries, among them Ivanka Trump, the daughter of United States President Donald Trump. After this summit, city will also host the World Telugu Conference and the Indian Science Congress. So until 7th Jan, Hyderabad will be a beggar free city.

The Police commissioner’s last week’s order states that begging at main road junctions is dangerous to the safety of the vehicular traffic and public in general. Now that’s a revelation! What kept the officials from realising this till now? Or, will begging be less dangerous two months from now?. Or if Ivanka is not visiting the city, there is no problem of any sort for the general public because of these beggars?

Ok, forget about general public’s inconvenience. But is this move at least doing any good to those beggars? No. Temporarily moving out from sight underprivileged people who seek alms for a living is not the solution — it’s not even a temporary one. Instead of treating them as eyesores, governments must enable them with tools that can take them away from begging, and help live a better life. Clearing beggars off the streets will not address urban poverty. Moving the underprivileged people out of sight is not even a temporary solution. It is one which insults human dignity and tries to mask the real reasons why people are on the streets. For this the root cause must be addressed: give people alternative forms of work so that they will not have to demean themselves by asking others for sustenance.

If the intention is good (to make Hyderabad a beggar free city), it has to be done for the people of Hyderabad, not for the sake of Ivanka’s visit and it has to be done with commitment not as a temporary action.

Ahead of US president Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump’s visit next month for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the Telangana government set its eyes on the beggars in the capital city.

GHMC several times in the past ran the ‘Make Hyderabad Beggar-Free’ campaign which failed to evoke proper response from the public. Following the numerous futile attempts and due to the international event upfront, the government will be going ahead with strict policing to impede beggars from roaming around in the city.

The beggars detained from the streets will be handed over to the Department of Prisons for rehabilitation and training.

The woman beggars will be put up in a building adjacent to Cherlapally Central Jail will be supervised by superintendent of the Prisoners’ Agricultural Colony. The male beggars will be put in at Chanchalguda old observation home for boys behind the Central Prison with the superintendent being Vice-principal, State Institute of Correctional Administration. As per the government order, these locations are renamed as “work houses” and “special homes”.

As per The Hindu, GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said, “We will act in coordination with other departments such as Women and Child development, prisons, MEPMA, urban community development, the police and NGOs, to carry out a sustainable programme against begging.”

US President Donald Trump’s daughter and White House advisor Ivanka Trump will be staying in Westin Hotel during her two-day stay in Hyderabad to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) next month, a top Telangana government official said on Friday.

Ivanka along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the inaugural session of GES on November 28 and will also attend a few sessions the next day.

The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace, as the luxury hotel is known, is located in Raheja IT Park in Madhapur in the heart of the Information Technology hub, about 3.5 km from Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), the venue of the two-day summit.

Earlier, there were reports that Ivanka will stay at Taj Falaknuma, located in the old city, but the idea was apparently dropped due to distance and also on security grounds.

Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary, Industry and Commerce, government of Telangana, told reporters that the state government will spend Rs 8 crore on hosting the event. This doesn’t include the beautification of the areas surrounding the venue, which will be taken care of by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The Telangana government will also host a dinner at the historic Golconda Fort for the delegates.

The GES will bring together 1,200 entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters for two-and-half days of training and mentoring sessions, networking and investment matchmaking.

The summit with the theme ‘Women first, prosperity for all’ will be attended by 400 entrepreneurs from the US, 400 from India and 400 from rest of the world, Jennifer Arangio, Senior Director for International Organizations and Alliances at the US National Security Council had said during her visit to the city earlier this month.

Ivanka Trump to be in Hyderabad for two days

President Donald Trump’s daughter and White House advisor Ivanka Trump will be in Hyderabad for two days to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) next month, a top US official said on Thursday.

Ivanka will speak at the inaugural session along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the evening of November 28 and will also remain at the event for part of the next day.

However, it is yet to be decided if she will also visit some other Indian city.

Jennifer Arangio, Senior Director for International Organizations and Alliances at the US National Security Council, told reporters here that Ivanka will arrive in Hyderabad on November 28 to attend the GES but it is yet to be decided if she will fly back straight to the US from here.

Asked about Ivanka’s other engagements in Hyderabad, Arangio said the visit would only be focussed on the summit.

The official said Ivanka would be an active participant at the GES. “Women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship are two signature issues she knows quite well. As you know she was instrumental in the We-Fi initiative launched by the World Bank,” she said referring to the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) launched in July.

To be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) here, the GES will bring together 1,200 entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters for two-and-half days of training and mentoring sessions, networking and investment matchmaking.

The summit with the theme ‘Women first, prosperity for all’ will be attended by 400 entrepreneurs from the US, 400 from India and 400 from rest of the world, Arangio said.

She said while traditionally GES was an education and networking summit, the real objective is to bring dynamic entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem drivers together so that they get inspired, matchup with potential investment opportunities and after going back home drive their ideas to the next level

“GES is an opportunity to showcase the United State’s world-renowned entrepreneurial acumen, underscore women’s economic empowerment, and foster economic growth and prosperity for our partners. When America’s partners are growing and prospering our world is more secure,” the US official said.

Senior Advisor at NITI Aayog, C. Muralikrishna Kumar said the event would focus on four sectors – healthcare and life sciences, digital economy and financial technology, energy and infrastructure, media and entertainment.

He said the entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts would use the global platform to sign agreements and make announcements.

He said an app would be launched 15 days before the summit so that the registered delegates could identify the partners for networking.

US Consul General in Hyderabad, Katherine Hadda, noted that Hyderabad has 130 American companies. She said they would be able to introduce more American entrepreneurs and investors to this region.
