0

Days after director S S Rajamouli refuted the reports of making Mahabharata, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan said that he would essay the role of Karna or Krishna if the epic is ever made.

Both Rajamouli and Aamir share the same dream of making Mahabharata.

The Dangal actor during the promotions of ‘Secret Superstar in Vadodara’ with Filmfare said,”My dream project is to make the Mahabharata but I’m afraid of starting the project as I know it will consume at least 15-20 years of my life.”

It may be recalled that Rajamouli with IANS said, “I just said that my dream is to make Mahabharata but it is a long time to get to that”

Stating the he is a great fan of Rajamouli’s work, the Bollywood actor said, he might be casted as Karna or Krishna in Rajamouli’s Mahabharata.

However, he said that due to his physique, he might end up playing Krishna.

Aamir said that he also liked the character of Arjuna, because he was the only person who asked Lord Krishna as to why he had to kill his own people.

I’m not making Mahabharata: Rajamouli

0

Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli denied reports that after breaking records with “Baahubali” franchise, he is making another big budget film based on the Mahabharata, saying that he is not working on anything and enjoying his break.

“I am not making Mahabharata. I just said that my dream is to make Mahabharata but it is a long time to get to that,” Rajamouli told IANS here.

“I haven’t started anything. I am just taking a break. It will be sometime that I will be starting to work on my next project,” he added.

Rajamouli attained global acclaim by creating “Baahubali” — which went on to become India’s biggest blockbuster with worldwide earnings of over Rs 900 crore.

Starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati as the male protagonists, the film’s story is about the battle for the ownership of an ancient kingdom between two brothers. It also featured Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sathyaraj.

The first part “Baahubali: The Beginning” came out in 2015 and the second “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion”, which will have its TV premiere on Sony MAX on October 8, was released earlier this year.

Asked about any plans to come out with another part, Rajamouli said at the moment there is no “further” story to tell.

“We Astarted the film with a fantastic story, and we finished it with these two films. So, there is no further story. I know we have a fantastic market and I know I will make hundreds of crore (with the franchise) but that wouldn’t be honest filmmaking.

“If we have a story, we will be very happy to all get together again,” he added.

Rajamouli said he is waiting for a “subject to touch his heart”, and he will start working soon after.

Will Mahesh Agree to Play Lord Krishna?

Going by the characters Superstar Mahesh Babu has essayed so far in his career, it is highly unlikely on his part to consider acting in a mythological movie. Despite this, Shrikumar Menon, the director of the recently announced Rs 1000 Cr worth Mahabharata movie has plans of casting the actor in the role of Lord Krishna.

In a recent interview, Menon himself divulged that either Mahesh or Hrithik Roshan will play the role of Lord Krishna in the epic Mahabharata he is set out to make. Hrithik is a great choice provided the actor gives hid nod. Mahesh may not show interest given that neither he has ever aspired to act in a mythological movie nor the role of Krishna is the main lead in Menon’s version of Mahabharata.

The film is based on ‘Randamoozham’, a book written by eminent Malayalam writer Vasudevan Nair. It narrates the story from the eyes of Bhima and the character will be essayed by Mohanlal.

Middle East based businessman BR Shetty will invest Rs 1000 crore in this epic film which will be made in two parts.

I Discussed Mahabharata With Aamir Khan: Rajamouli

Even though Rajamouli SS has many a times clarified that he would not make Mahabharata immediately after ‘Baahubali’, the speculations haven’t really ended. Now, the ace director seems to added fuel to the fire by spilling beans on discussing Mahabharata project with Aamir Khan.

In a recent interview, Rajamouli has reportedly divulged that he dreams to make Mahabharata on a vast scale and ascertained that it will not happen immediately after Baahubali. He also confessed that he had some time back met Aamir Khan and discussed Mahabharata. “Aamir is also interested in that epic project so we discussed it. But, as I said on numerous occasions, I need more expertise to take up that gigantic project,” Rajamouli added.

So, Rajamouli hinted that Mahabharata will not happen immediately but whenever it happens, it may star Aamir Khan, arguably the biggest star of the country at the moment. If this duo collaborates, sky is the limit for that project’s box office potential.

Some time back, reports emerged in national media that Rajamouli was planning to cast Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal and Aamir Khan in Mahabharata. Made as a trilogy, the epic film was speculated to go on floors towards the end of 2018.
