Telugu moviegoers encourage dubbing films very well. This is the reason why the market for Tamil films in our states has increased significantly over the years. As openings are vital for big ticket films, the makers are keenly spending on promotions in other states before their release. Even our Telugu heroes command good market in neighbouring states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. So, during promotions our star heroes allot time to woo audience there. Top stars like Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, Chiranjeevi etc graced the promotional events of their films held in Chennai and delighted fans and media by speaking in Tamil.
Unlike Telugu heroes, some Tamil stars disdain audience in other states. Despite their films doing strong business in Telugu states, Tamil stars are not turning up for promotions here. The latest example is Tamil superstar Vijay who skipped the pre release event in Hyderabad which was held a couple of days ago. Bigil, getting dubbed as Whistle, did a solid business of 10 Crores in Telugu states. The promotional event was attended by director and few other technicians, but audience were disappointed as Vijay didn’t come to the event. Also, the film’s leading lady Nayanatara skipped the event.
Vijay’s recent films fared well in Telugu states. Whistle is also set for a terrific opening here as it is creating strong buzz due to the aggressive promotions by Telugu buyers. So, Vijay’s presence could have added more buzz to the hype on the film in Telugu states. Even media is unhappy with Vijay’s contempt towards Telugu audience.
