TDP-BJP war of words reaches a new high

The on-going war of words between Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party reached a new high today with TDP asking its partner to go to Delhi and inform central leadership if is was not happy with the alliance.

The warning came from MLC Budda Venkanna, after chief minister Chandrababu Naidu took a dig at union government in a video conference with central government official yesterday. Venkanna warned the BJP that the TDP won’t take it lying down if the saffron party criticized Naidu unduly.

union joint secretary Sanjay Kothari was in town yesterday in connection with the division of employees between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. But, chief minister Naidu chose to talk with him in a video conference from Vijayawada, in which he reprimanded the central government severely. It is not clear why Naidu chose a conversation with a department of personnel and training (DoPT)official, to give the center a dressing down.

But Naidu was unsparing in his attack. The CM might be under the impression that the central babu would convey AP chief minister’s indignation to the right quarters at the centre. It was for the first time that Naidu used a hard hitting language against centre. ” You don’t do anything until the state government asks for. It is your responsibility to keep your promises given to the people of the state. You have backed out on special status. The division was done irresponsibly. People are unhappy as centre has kept many of important assurances unfulfilled,” he told Kothari.

In less than 24 hours, on Friday, BJP state secretary Koteswar Rao took strong objection to the blaming of NDA government by TDP leadership .

Dismissing the charge that nothing had been done to Andhra Pradesh, Koteswar Rao alleged that Naidu had diverted Rs 500 crore given for the construction of Assembly, High Court and Raj Bhavan at Amaravati. “Not a paisa from central funding had spent on the capital, he said adding that even in Polavaram funds had not been utilized fully. Chettu-Neeru Program is full of corruption. Misrepresenting the facts will hurt both of you,” he said. Rao also deplored the too much involvement of Janma Bhumi committees in the reparations of tanks.

Reacting on the comments, TDP MLC from Krishna district, Venkanna said TDP won’t remain silent if the baseless charges were hurled at chief minister Naidu.

He said the alliance with BJP did more harm to the ruling party than any benefit. ” TDP had lost 10 seats, because, the BJP could not give effective fight for YSRCP. The party had won just four seats in 2014, that too with the help from TDP,” he said.

” If you don’t like alliance, go and tell your leadership in Delhi,” nonchalant Venkanna told Rao.
