The Telangana early poll has taught big lessons to many especially to the Congress stalwarts. Many chief ministerial aspirants have to bow out eventually. While all the three lead players of the KCR family won with spectacular results, the Congress bigwigs have to bite the dust.
CM aspirants and senior leaders like K. Jana Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponnala Laxmaiah, J. Geeta Reddy and others were defeated by rival candidates. They were all swept away in the massive pro-TRS wave that ran like an under current and humbled the so-called People’s Front.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has everything to cheer about as the KCR family members have won despite the severe opposition attack. From Rahul Gandhi to Chandrababu Naidu, every rival leader accused KCR of promoting only his family interests rather than the people of Telangana and that the cause for which separate statehood was achieved was eventually defeated.
But the Telangana people chose to give a clear and massive victory to KCR family. KCR won with a comfortable majority in Gajwel while K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) secured victory in Sircilla. KCR’s nephew T Harish Rao won with a record majority of over 1.19 lakh votes.
