Much water has flown in river Godavari after the creation of separate Telagana state.TDP is no longer a force in the state where it is derided (by TRS) as an Andhra Party and has no business to continues in Telangana. While Congress lost base in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP is on shaky ground in new state. This change in their respective status seems to have forced them to rediscover their relations even though TDP founding principle was anti-Congressism. Some sections in these parties are of the opinion that there is nothing wrong in coming together as enemies of enemy. The T-TDP mulling over the idea of ‘joining hands’ with the Congress to break the ongoing winning streak of the ruling TRS in Telangana State.Telangana TDP leaders have reportedly placed the proposal before party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu.

In fact it was the Congress which first hit upon the idea of marriage of convenience. Commenting on the TRS victory in Warangal, Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy said there was nothing wrong in aligning with TDP in order contain the ‘menace of TRS’ in Telangana. He hinted at a possible understanding between TDP, Congress and Left either directly or indirectly to defeat the TRS in the MLC and GHMC polls.

From TDP side, T-TDP president L Ramana, floor leader in Assembly Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Rajya Sabha member Garikapati Mohana Rao are said to have broached the idea, in view with MLC and GHMC elections, with Naidu on Saturday, when the latter was in Hyderabad. Sources said they had drawn Naidu’s attention to Nalgonda MP Sukhender Reddy’s proposal. Naidu, according to sources, gave patient hearing but did not comment anything. “It is Naidu’s style not to comment when somebody suggested new idea and it is also a sign that it had got registered in his mind,” sources said.

According to sources the TDP has decided to contest the forthcoming Legislative Council elections for 12 vacant MLC posts from the local bodies in constituencies. The polling is scheduled on Dec 27.
