This is Amaravati’s Environmental Clearance

Finally, following the National Green Tribunal directive this morning Andhra Pradesh government has made environmental clearance certificate accorded for the Amaravati capital construction available in public domain.

The 22-page certificate of Environmental Clearance has been issued on by the State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority. The authority said, ” After detailed discussions the committee recommended the proposal for environmental clearance. The State Level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority, AP has examined the project proposal and recommendations of the SEAC in its meeting held on 09.10.2015 and decided to issue Environmental Clearance (EC) to the project as recommended by the SEAC.” The SLEIAA, AP, ha accorded the EC to the Amaravati capital construction project under the provision of EIA notification dated 14.09. 2006.

The Authority is satisfied with the information provided by the project proponent (government) on meeting water requirement, treating the waste water to international recyclable standards having BOD, COD, and TSS of less than 10mg/l , development of pedestrian paths on priority.

Among the conditions the authority laid are, protection of Krishna water from the discharges of all developmental activities, construction of nine internal detention ponds and two reservoirs within the Capital city in addition to external detention ponds of adequate capacity to overcome the flood menace posed by the Kondaveeti Vagu and its tributaries, conducting detailed study of flood management and storm water drains of Kondaveeti Vagu and tributaries etc.
