It has been a dull season for Telugu cinema. After Sree Vishnu’s Single that released on May 9th, none of the new releases had an impressive run. Like never before, several exhibitors have shut their theatres due to the lack of the audience. Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life carried good expectations but the film was badly rejected by the audience. Even the Hindi film industry is struggling with similar hurdles. Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par and Dhanush – Nagarjuna starrer Kuberaa were the only hopes for the month of June.

Both these films released on Friday and they have done exceptional business over the weekend. Both these films opened on a decent note and with positive word of mouth, the numbers have seen a considerable rise by Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday are packed with housefull boards. Extra shows are screened for both these films. The numbers for Sitaare Zameen Par were doubled on Saturday and Sunday is super strong. Both Kubera and Sitaare Zameen Par have brought the needed boost for the theatres. Both Sitaare Zameen Par and Kubera are expected to have a great run in the final run at the box-office.
