A burglary was reported at the residence of Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra in Chintalapudi village of Guntur district. The incident took place when no one was present in the house. According to preliminary reports, unidentified miscreants broke into the property and decamped with gold, silver and cash.
Police sources said that nearly 50 sovereigns of gold ornaments, 10 kilograms of silver articles and cash worth around one lakh rupees were stolen. The theft has triggered concern in the local community as the house belongs to a sitting legislator. The MLA’s mother resides at the Chintalapudi home, though she was not present at the time of the incident.
Chintalapudi police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Officers visited the scene to collect forensic evidence and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects. Special teams have been formed to track down those involved.
The incident has created a stir in the region, with residents expressing shock over the security lapse. Police officials said efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits at the earliest and recover the stolen property.
