Visakhapatnam is getting ready to host one of the biggest International Yoga Day celebrations in the world on June 21, 2025. Yogandhra is a large-scale yoga campaign organized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2025 to promote yoga and wellness across the state. The grand event will take place along the beautiful coastline from RK Beach to Bheemili Beach, turning the city into a vibrant yoga destination. The entire 23-km stretch is being decorated with colourful art, welcome banners, and lights to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be attending the event. This celebration is expected to attract worldwide attention and bring a proud moment for Andhra Pradesh.
As part of the preparations, over five lakh people are expected to participate in the mass yoga session along the beach. Green yoga mats are being placed across the entire coastline to create a uniform and eco-friendly yoga zone. In case of rain, a backup venue has been arranged at Andhra University, where large German tents will provide shelter for participants. A special stage is being set up near the Kali Mata Temple, where 15,000 selected participants will perform yoga live with PM Modi.
Adding a unique touch, the Indian Navy will conduct yoga sessions on 11 warships at sea, giving the event a strong military presence. Dignitaries including 50 foreign ambassadors, three Union Ministers, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will also take part in the celebrations. The organisers are aiming to set two new world records for the largest group yoga performance and the longest yoga stretch by the sea.
To ensure smooth travel and safety, the government has arranged over 30,000 transport vehicles from nearby districts. More than 37,000 seating enclosures with space for 1,000 people each have been set up, using a QR code-based entry system to manage the crowd. Around 10,000 police personnel and 10,000 volunteers will be on duty. For surveillance, 1,300 CCTV cameras and 40 drones will keep watch over the entire event. Also, an ambulance will be placed every kilometre to provide emergency help if needed.
Participants will be given free yoga mats, raincoats, water bottles, and health kits to stay comfortable and healthy. To avoid mobile network issues, hyper-cell towers are being installed. For travel convenience, over 800 RTC and private buses are being operated from different parts of the state.
The people of Visakhapatnam are extremely proud and thankful to CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for bringing this global yoga event to their city. With so much careful planning and large-scale arrangements, Vizag is now ready to shine on the global yoga map and represent “Yogandhra”, the new name symbolising Andhra Pradesh as a land of yoga and wellness.
