Will Pawan Kalyan ever learn?

Actor turned politicians should refrain from using dialogs to provoke people. The Union government on Friday cleared the state’s draft ordinance to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, enabling the conduct of Jallikattu. In a series of tweets, the Jana Sena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan welcomed the move. In one of his tweets applauding the Tamils for holding the Dravidian culture, the actor said “will Andhra’s ever learn?” What should the Andhra’s learn and why should they learn? They already learnt enough by supporting the actor’s favored Chief Ministerial candidate who gave up the special category status.

The actor while enlightening everyone about what Andhras need to learn, should definitely study the Jai Andhra Movement. It is one of the successful movements in support for the creation of Andhra state in the light of injustices felt by the people of the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema Regions. Tamils were successful in changing minds is through constant engagement and pressurizing. It’s worth contemplating about the funds needed for special category status versus that of Jallikattu. It’s like comparing apples and oranges and such comments time and again prove the need for the actor to understand economy.

In another tweet the actor mentioned that the general public did not compromise but the politicians did. It is easy to place the blame the politicians for the u-turn. The actor can write all the scathing tweets but the truth is that rhetoric rarely persuades. In Tamil Nadu the political class had to show this solidarity because common man and celebrities like the actor have come down in support. The film fraternity became the voice and were able to take the movement to next level. Let’s not forget how many Tollywood celebrities have actually spoken during the bifurcation and how many actually came in support for special category status fight. There is no point in barking up the wrong tree. The actor is content to live in different worlds with different peers and rant on twitter. If the actor intends lasting change, it’s no longer enough to merely question the politicians but there is a need to inspire his colleagues to join the cause.
