3 dead as heavy rains and thunderstorms lash Hyderabad

Three persons were reported dead including an infant following the five hours of heavy downpour with thunders and lightening in Hyderabad on Monday evening. This is the highest rainfall recorded in the month of October in a decade.

Cloudburst caused over as 7 cm-12 cm rainfall was recorded in some parts of the city. Due to the upper air circulation lying over Rayalaseema and upper air trough running from Odisha to Kerala across Telangana, rains lashed out Hyderabad.

While one man was electrocuted, father and son duo were buried under the debris of a wall which collapsed due to rains.

Waterlogging at several places left people stranded on roads and lowlying and emergency GHMC teams were deployed to carry out the operations.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took the stock of the situation and asked the officials to remain alert and launch relief operations.

The government issued orders for the schools and colleges in Hyderabad to remain closed on Tuesday.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, the downpour will continue for next three days as per the forecast
