Responding positively to the opposition demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be present in both the houses during debate on demonetization, BJP leaders are trying to convince them that the Prime Minister could speak Parliament if there is a proper debate.

Making it clear it is not possible for the prime minister to sit in both houses of parties all through the debate, union ministers are assuring that he would certainly interview during debates and answer to all the points being raised by opposition leaders.

The opposition led by the Congress is pressing for a debate under a rule that entails voting, besides demanding Narendra Modi’s clarification over his shock announcement scrapping high-value banknotes that has left millions of Indians scrambling for cash. However, the government seems to be not ready for voting.
