Having junked the proposed metro project from Vijaywada, the Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday joined hands with a US-based company to introduce the futuristic “Hyperloop” transportation system in the state capital region, Amrawati.
If everything goes well, this will be the first Hyperloop project to be implemented in India.
The concept of Hyperloop mode of transportation is notably backed by business magnate and inventor Elon Musk. But it has not been implemented for practical use anywhere in the world yet.
The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (AP-EDB) and the US- based Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Amaravati. But an official release on the MoU did not disclose the probable cost of the project.
The project will be taken up in the public-private- partnership mode with the funding coming primarily from private investors, the release said.
Hyperloop envisages a ‘tube modular transport system’ that runs free of friction. It is still in trial stages in different countries.
Following his first interaction with HTT executives during the World Economic Forum in Switzerland in January, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu held another round of talks with them at the Secretariat here recently.
HTT chairman and co-founder Bibop Gresta and EDB CEO J Krishna Kishore signed the MoU.
Hyperloop is proposed to be introduced between the city centres of Vijayawada and Amaravati. It will supposedly cover the distance of over 35 km only in five minutes.
Under the MoU, the HTT will conduct a feasibility study from the next month to “analyse the surrounding cityscapes to create the best route between the two cities”. “After the six-month feasibility study, we will construct and build the first Hyperloop in India,” the HTT said.
“The AP-EDB, along with the state government, will assist HTT with all regulatory requirements and develop and implement Hyperloop in Amaravati,” CEO Kishore was quoted as saying in the release.
One more news just for publicity stunt . Please make a note it’s still a ” A hyperloop is a proposed mode of passenger ” , still in it’s prototype . and please not it’s one of the most expensive projects (in future if implemented ) .Hey, Someone advise CM to change there thinking approach . The project is for conjested cities. One foolish thing they will implement in 6 months big joke again.

Who has said that it would be implement es in 6 months, That’s your imagination ! The six-month time is for doing the feasibility study. If it is not feasible, it will not be taken up.
@Balaram , I don’t need to imagine . The Six months Feasibility i to look for the best route and start construction after that . here are the statements from officials of HTT and Andhra Officials :

Where is the imagination in those statements ? and the truth is HTT has till date never shown it’s development to outside world unlike hyper loop one or space x .
Let them take 6 months or 6 years it will still be a dream. Or let’s call them day dreamers .coz with minimal cost compared to hyper-loop you could have a Flyover from vja to world class capital .
Would like to add one more point The Top 2 companies for Hyperloop are Space X and Hyperloop one (The pic ) . The MOU signed HTT hasn’t show any great progress comparing with it competitors . The cost is estimated to be $50-60 million per mile could increase when implemented. .
