‘Bond’age in Congress!

0

The Congress party has invoked a mega controversy by taking bonds by newly elected party MLAs in Bengal. All the 44 Congress MLAs have submitted affidavits on Rs. 100 stamp papers to the high command. They have pledged “unqualified allegiance” to Sonia Gandhiji and Rahul Gandhiji.MLAs also pledged that they will not indulge in any kind of anti party activity. This act has sparked the sharp criticism from political rivals.

BJP has termed this act as slavery. Such affidavits were not taken by any political party in the history of India, BJP leaders said. This act is a sign of the state of the mind of the party top leaders, some observers say. Congress has joined hands with Left Front in the recent Bengal Assembly elections. Both the parties were arch rivals since many decades. The alliance has looked bizarre to the cadres of both the parties. It is not yet confirmed that whether the votes for transferred between the two parties or not, the combine has failed to win majority seats.

Congress has finished second with 44 seats and the CPM fell to third place for the first time. Probably this debacle led to doubts of a rebellion, like in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In Arunachal Pradesh, the Congress rebels have formed government with support of BJP.Though Congress government has survived in Uttarakhand, the rebellion of 9 MLAs has irked the powerful high command.

Congress has suffered a major setback in 2014 LS elections. Interestingly it got only 44 seats. Since then, the party could not overcome the trouma of debacle. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandh have failed to boost up the morale of the party cadres. Rahul Gandhi himself was missing from the action for two months last year.Congress has lost power in Kerala and Assam in the recent elections. The party leaders sense a rebellion in the Bengal front. That was the reason for taking affidavits, BJP attacks. But several Congess leaders came forward to shield Gandhi’s. They said it was not done by the orders of Gandhi’s. According to them, the state leadership was responsible for it.

Any how, the oldest party in India has become this much inferior? Congress leadership has to answer.
