Aamir Khan’s latest smash hit Dangal, which is receiving unanimous reports from the first day, embarked on a superb box office haul in all areas after its grand release on December 23rd. After notching up solid figures in the first weekend, the film is continuing to reap a rich harvest in overseas on weekdays as well. The sporting saga has zoomed past $ 5M in North America by the end of Monday. The long Christmas holiday has helped the film to maintain its domineering position at the box office. The latest trade reports revealed that the film has amassed close to $ 1M on Monday taking the total past $ 5M ($ 5,062,620).

The haunting performances by the principal cast and the impressive narration by Nitesh Tiwari played a significant part in making the film a huge blockbuster. The domestic box office collections are also solid and the film is inching towards becoming one of the biggest hits of Bollywood. Based on the story of Indian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, Dangal also touched some of the sensitive issues like patriarchy and female infanticide which are still prevalent in a few areas of North India.
