After a series of discussions and meetings, Deepika Padukone decided to come on to the board as the female lead in ’83’ which is the biopic of star cricketer Kapil Dev. Her husband Ranveer Singh is reprising the role of Kapil Dev in the film and there are speculations that it was Ranveer Singh who convinced Deepika Padukone for the role. With their past films doing magic at the box-office, Deepika Padukone was not keen on signing 83 as she had limited screen presence.
The real update is that Deepika Padukone was convinced after she was offered a fat pay cheque of Rs 14 crores for her crisp role which lasts for less than 15 minutes. This left Ranveer Singh in shock as the actor would be taking home Rs 10 crores as remuneration for this big budget project. With the makers offering a hefty pay, Deepika Padukone could not reject the offer and signed the film. All her episodes will be canned in London soon. Kabir Khan is directing 83 which releases on April 10th next year.
