NTR Row – Did YS Jagan shoot himself in the foot?

Political leaders are well-known for their historical blunders. In order to woo the voters, and malign the chances of the opposition parties, political leaders come up with out-of-the-world promises. In one such case, YS Jagan, in an attempt to shrink TDP’s chances in Krishna district, announced that he would rename Krishna District as NTR District if YSRCP comes into power.

While these statements did woo in few sections, it also brought out the difference of opinions in his own party itself. Adding more insult to the injury, YSRCP state political advisor Ramachandra Rao made sensational comments on YS Jagan, expressing his anguish over the comments.

He threatened that he would resign to the party and start an indefinite hunger if YS Jagan doesn’t take back his comments. ‘I will strike to protect our Krishna district. We drink the water of Krishnamma, we are eating its food, and breathing its air. How can we change its name? If he has so much of liking towards NTR, I advise him to establish NTR statues and build his memorial buildings. But we will not let him change the name of the district’, said Ramachandra Rao.

At the same time, many YSRCP leaders from Krishna District and other districts also condemned YS Jagan’s comments, and are quite furious over his ‘dictatorial’ style comments.
