The Congress party won bypolls in four out of five seats in Karnataka and that gave full ‘josh’ to Congress cadre in the state. Especailly Congress’s win in Bellary Lok Sabha is very much debated in the state. DK Shivakumar, the Congress’s trouble-shooter in Karnataka, has once again proved his mettle as he was the in-charge of Bellary constituency.

Now the party assigned the job of taking back Bellary to DK. Bellary was strong forte of Congress from 1952 to 2000. But it went to BJP first time in Muncipal elections in 2000. Later in 2009, BJP candidate won in Lok sabha elections. Gali Janardhan Reddy and his team became very strong in the constituency and they were called by media as ‘Bellary brothers’. So, this time Congress party gave the responsibility to DK Shiva Kumar again.
DK Shiva Kumar was involved right from the selection of candidate to strategy of campaigning to everything of the election process. As a result of all this, finally,in Bellary parliamentary seat, the party’s VS Ugrappa surged ahead of the BJP’s V Shantha within an hour of counting. “We had a very strategic plan from the beginning. Starting from the selection of the candidate till the day of the election process,” Mr Shivakumar said after the results.
