“I know Sampath since we were producing Toss with another partner. Priyadarshani Ram was the director then, Sampath was working as an associate director. We thought he was talented and given a push he could make a good movie and when he came up with the script with Ye Maindi Eevela he said he would prefer a new cast. At that time I felt we should be going with some reputed names and that was a stepping stone for me and he had gratitude for me that I introduced him as a director. We have been in touch with each other eversince and this film happened.
Sampath waited for Gabbar Singh and with their consent he came out and narrated a story to Ravi Teja and this materialised. Lot of producers were ready to produce a film with Ravi Teja but Sampath suggested my name. When I took up the project what was in store, the story he narrated required guts and investment. From Day One I was prepared and the total span. Aadi’s film wasn’t bad but the timing of release was not appropriate, we advanced it and there was no time for publicity. If it releases on television, people will definitely like it.
The script is the hero, it has elements that suit Ravi Teja and I knew Sampath’s calibre. If you go over the budget, you will definitely feel the pinch. One should be judicious in spending, how much ever money you have, there should be some knowledge in film making, there should be minimising on wastage. Coming to the title, the energy of Bengal Tiger is synonymous with the hero’s character. I am not a full time producer, I do one film at a time, only if the subject is good. The heroines have substantial roles they are just not glamorous dolls, they carry the story and have done extremely well.”
