In a significant political development, Congress MLA from Munugode, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, held a meeting with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. According to sources, the two leaders discussed the current political landscape in Telangana and Karnataka, with Rajagopal Reddy reportedly raising concerns about internal party matters.
During the meeting, Rajagopal Reddy is said to have reminded Shivakumar about a past promise of a ministerial position, which he claims was a key reason for his return to the Congress party. He urged the Karnataka leader to convey this issue to the party high command, expressing frustration over being overlooked for a cabinet berth despite earlier assurances.
Rajagopal Reddy, known for his outspoken stance in recent months, has repeatedly criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that even leaders who joined the party after him were given ministerial posts, while he was ignored. He even went as far as hinting at resignation from his MLA position, accusing the Congress high command of neglect.
Rajagopal Reddy added that senior Congress leaders had promised him a ministerial role if he helped win the Bhuvanagiri MP seat, but that promise too remained unfulfilled. Expressing deep frustration, he declared that he is ready to sacrifice his position again for the people, indicating that he might consider stepping down if necessary.
Taking a direct jab at CM Revanth Reddy, Komatireddy said the government must change its tone, and emphasized that the Chief Minister should speak less and work more. “Instead of holding the mic and talking for hours, Revanth Reddy should focus on doing real work for the public,” he said.
In a surprising remark, he also mentioned: “If I had joined BRS, KCR might have given me a ministry. But I don’t do that and I didn’t come to Congress just for a post.”
Rajagopal Reddy went on to make serious allegations, claiming that around 20 people were looting Telangana’s resources through illegal sand mining and corrupt contract practices.
With rising tensions between him and the current Congress leadership, especially CM Revanth Reddy, the meeting with DK Shivakumar has gained political significance. Sources say DK Shivakumar is scheduled to meet Revanth Reddy tomorrow, raising speculation about potential damage control efforts or internal discussions about Rajagopal Reddy’s future within the party.
