Mohan Lal’s latest comments on ongoing MeToo issue raked up yet another controversy. South Indian actress Revathi slammed Mohanlal for his mean remarks on Me too movement. It is known news that Me Too movement started in India by Tanusree Dutta caught like wildfire and many women came forward opening up on the harassment they faced. Not just film industry but victims in many other fields opened up on their predators. Many celebrities like Amir Khan and Akshay Kumar went an extra mile in supporting this movement. However Malayalam super star ridiculed “Me too” movement and made controversial comments.

During his recent visit to Dubai, he passed mean comments on the movement and trivialized and labelled the #MeToo movement as a ‘fad’. Mohan Lal is also the president of AMMA (Association Of Movie Artists). He supported Dileep during Bhavana incident and many criticized him for that. In this interview, he expressed his view on Me too movement that it is become something like a fashion and that even men should begin their own movement. He went on to say, this movement will also be a short-lived fashion like ‘sleeveless dresses and bell-bottom pants’. He also opined that this movement will dissipate soon.

His insensitive comments drew ire from netizens as well as women who are fighting for this cause. Actress Revathi, who worked with him in some blockbuster movies tweeted, “#MeToo movement a ‘FAD’ says a Renowned ACTOR. How do we bring some degree of sensitivity in such people? Like Anjali Menon says, the people who have just arrived from Mars have no clue what it means to get abused, what it takes to call out and how this can bring about change!!!”. Even though she didn’t mention name of Mohan Lal directly, it is very much clear from her tweet that she is targeting him. Revathi has been supporting Bhavana in Bhavana vs Dileep issue and she has been vocal on Me Too movement too. It is known news that she earlier fired salvos on AMMA association for which Mohan Lal is president for supporting Dileep, who master-planned abduction of actress Bhavana.

Not only Revathi , many others lambasted Mohan Lal for his mean comments. Activist and author Sandhya Menon, who has been supporting Me Too movement and fighting for other victims who cannot openly reveal their own identity, called Mohan Lal’s comments “highly irresponsible”.

We will have to wait and see how Superstar Mohan Lal will respond on these.
