The 37-year-old ever cheerful popular play back singer and dubbing artist Upadrashta Sunitha seems to be passing through a crisis-kind of situation in her personal as well as professional life.

In an interview to Sakshi newspaper, Sunitha, a household name thanks to her startling performance for the last 21 long years in the film industry, spoke a lot about her wayward husband and the trauma she is facing due to his ‘irresponsible’ behaviour. Her fans got upset with the painful disclosures made by the singer but in a way it is good for her to call a spade instead of bearing the agony caused by Kiran, whom she married when she was only 19.

Giving a clear hint that Kiran is troubling her by not giving her divorce, Sunitha said: “Ivvadu (he won’t give divorce) and he threatens me that he wouldn’t budge on this (not giving divorce).” It seems Sunitha is not happy with Kiron taking hand loans from people. “He cheated me,” she rued and added that many people ’emotionally tortured’ her and the issues in personal life had cut short her opportunities. She is talking about Kiran now because “he tested my patience at peaks.” Sunitha wept twice during the interview. She also said that she had to consult a psychiatrist for the first time six years ago and recently once to come out of depression.

Sunitha also made a dig at music directors. When asked as to how is her career, she said: “It’s good. This is the time of Taman, Devishree Prasad and Anoop. They are searching for new voices. Since we have voice process mechanism, anybody is okay for singing. There is no rule to have an experienced singer. ” To another question on whether she suffers insecurity feeling due to the upcoming singers, she went on to say that her contemporary singers Usha and Kousalya were encouraged by RP Patnaik and Chakri respectively. “Even in the face of such situation (where she didn’t have a person to encourage), I didn’t face insecurity feeling. Why should I have it now? Insecurity will start if we don’t have confidence.”
