Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi during his visit to India for the prestigious India AI Impact Summit 2026. The meeting focused on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and long term technology collaboration between India and global tech leaders.
Pichai expressed his excitement about returning to India for the summit. In a post on X, he said he was happy to be back and appreciated the warm welcome he received. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the summit on February 20. The event has drawn participation from more than 110 countries and over 30 international organizations, making it one of the largest global gatherings on artificial intelligence.
During his visit, Pichai praised India’s growing commitment to AI development. He highlighted the country’s efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, invest in data centers, and build strong partnerships with local companies. He also emphasized the importance of supporting India’s talented youth by creating better employment opportunities both within the country and abroad.
In discussions with the Prime Minister, Pichai shared details of Google’s expanding footprint in India. He confirmed that Google is working with Reliance Jio to establish a new cloud region in the country. As part of this expansion, projects generating 150 megawatts of renewable energy are being set up to support sustainable operations. Google is also partnering with companies such as Adani and Clean Max to expand its data center infrastructure in India.
Beyond infrastructure, Google is focusing on developing AI driven products tailored for Indian users. Pichai reiterated that India plays a critical role in the global AI ecosystem and said he was optimistic about the country’s future in advanced technologies.
