Tollywood Highest Grossers of the Year since 2010 – Pushpa takes 2021

Pushpa (Telugu) has raked over 100 Cr share worldwide and is the highest-grossing film of the year. The film has overtaken Vakeel Saab and is the highest collected film of 2021. The film is a profitable venture in Nizam but a loss venture in A.P owing to the ticket prices. Many theatres are even seized from first Wednesday.

Allu Arjun now has back-to-back highest grosser of the year which is only achieved by a few heroes earlier. Chiranjeevi has achieved it during the 2002-2004 period for 3 straight years & Pawan Kalyan for 2012-2013.

There are many biggies scheduled for next year with RRR, Radhe Shyam, Salaar, Adipurush being the top contenders.

The Good Friday weekend has seen two releases, Wild Dog & Sulthan (Dub) which were sold/valued for considerable prices. But the films haven’t utilized the holiday weekend properly. Even the holdover Rang De hasn’t done much.

1. Sulthan:

After a below-par opening, the film has dropped on its second day and showed a very minimal rise on Sunday. The weekend distributor share of the film in the Telugu States is over 2.60 Cr. It is bought for 7 cr and will incur huge losses for the buyers.

2. Wild Dog:

After a poor opening day, the film has dropped on the second day and was flat on Sunday. It has collected a distributor share of over 2.15 Cr in Telugu Staters during the first weekend. The rights are valued at 9cr including release expenses and will end up as a failure.

3. Rang De:

Rang De was better among the holdovers but the film had a very low second weekend with less than 1cr distributor share. 10 days cumulative share of the film in the Telugu States is below 13cr against the valued rights of 19.5 Cr. It is a Disaster with huge losses to buyers.

Godzilla vs Kong has done decent business in the Telugu States and can be considered a success. Other dub release Yuvarathnaa had a very poor weekend and it’s doubtful to even recover the release expenses.

SPYder has collected 62 Cr with Telugu Version contributing more than 48 Cr. It will be hardly adding anything from here as many theatres are replacing it with new releases from coming Friday. As said earlier the film is disaster and a near 60 cr loss for buyers taking valued business in to account.

In overseas, Telugu film Arjun Reddy has extended its dream run in its second weekend. Balakrishna’s Paisa Vasool, which released last Friday, has utterly disappointed the trade circles as it collected very meagre figures in its first weekend. Tamil biggie Vivegam, despite slowing down, managed to surpass the half a million dollar mark in overseas.

Arjun Reddy : After embarking on a sensational start with close to $ 1M haul in its first weekend, Tollywood’s latest runaway hit Arjun Reddy is extending its dream run in overseas even after 10 days. The bold yet intense romantic drama minted decent figures in the second weekend and by Monday the film has touched the $ 1.5M club, only the 15th film of all time and the 5th film this year to touch the prestigious mark. On its second Friday and following weekend, the film collected $ 89K, $ 116K and $ 90K.

Paisa Vasool : Balakrishna’s highly anticipated action drama Paisa Vasool has had a disappointing run at overseas box office so far. The film registered dismal figures in its first weekend and trade analysts predict that it will be a huge loss venture in overseas. The Puri Jagannadh directional collected $ 100K from its Thursday premiers and the collections took a beating towards the weekend due to the average reviews and poor word of mouth. The film has collected $46K , $27K and $18K in its first weekend. The film might add only another $25K in its full run.

Vivegam : Tamil superstar Thala Ajith’s Vivegam, which opened on a promising note but slowed down later due to poor talk, has managed to rake in noticeable figures in the last weekend to take the total past half a million dollar mark. The film has collected $ 520K till now and stood at the second spot in the list of top grossing Tamil films in USA this year.

Arjun Reddy becomes Vijay’s highest grosser in overseas

Tollywood’s latest sensational hit Arjun Reddy, which took a solid opening at the box office last week, has slightly slowed down its storm in the second weekend. The bold and intense romantic drama has surpassed Vijay’s previous super hit Pelli Choopulu in overseas by the end of second Friday.

After a strong first weekend with $ 960 K, Arjun Reddy went on to collect decent figures on weekdays which include $ 47K on Monday, $ 95 K on Tuesday, $ 35K and $ 39K on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. On its second Friday, the film notched up $ 89K and surpassed the life time collections of Pelli Choopulu ( $1.22 M). Arjun Reddy has collected ( $ 1.27 M) till now and is inching towards the $ 1.5 Million club.

Arjun Reddy has set a unique record by becoming the first Telugu film with A certificate to touch the million dollar mark in overseas.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film stars Shalini Pandey as the female lead.

There is no stopping for Nani’s Ninnu Kori in overseas. The romantic drama is racing towards the million dollar mark after taking a superb start last Friday. Overseas audience are lapping up the film big time and trade circles are predicting that the film will hit the million dollar club shortly.

Having raked in $ 384K on Friday which includes Thursday premiers, the film entered the half million club in style with a super solid Saturday. As per the latest reports, Ninnu Kori collected close to $ 250K( counting) on Saturday. Going by its trend, the film is likely to end the weekend some where close to $ 900K. By the end of second weekend, Ninnu Kori will hit the break even mark.

Emotional performances by the lead pair coupled with the fine technical values made this film a decent watch.

Directed by Siva Nirvana, the film is produced by DVV Danayya.
