Hello Telugu Movie Overseas Profit Loss Statement

Hello Starring Akhil Akkineni and Kalyani Priyadarshan was released on Dec 23rd 2018. Directed by Vikram Kumar and produced by the Nagarjuna Akkineni the film has ended up as the first Million Dollar for the hero in USA Market. There’s a humongous 6 times improvement when you compare with hero’s previous Akhil-The Power Of Jua which had grossed $168,544.

Coming to the distributor share details, the film has collected distributor share of $510,523 which comes down to $400,523 ie, 2.55 Crores INR after deducting the expenses like VPF & Publicity. Gross to Share percent of the film on a whole is a little over 50 percent unlike the other million dollar films which got up to 55 percent. The reason for this is the film grossing more in AMC/Regal which have contributed more than 45 percent of the total USA gross. The film was an own release by producer and can be termed as a Hit based on the factors like cast, clashing with other notable film which was also a Million Dollar. OS Distributor Cinegalaxy USA did a commendable job in promoting the film and securing theaters during busy Christmas season, which helped push the film past the million barrier.

An Interesting fact is that the film is Hit in USA market but a disaster in Domestic Market.

Akkineni Akhil’s relaunch film Hello might have failed to excite the domestic trade circles due to its poor run after a good start, but it has managed to rake in good revenues at the overseas box office. The Vikram Kumar directional has managed to hit the million dollar mark in overseas by the end of this Saturday.

Hello took off to a promising start with good figures in its first weekend despite stiff competition from Nani’s MCA. The romantic entertainer went on to collect decent numbers thereafter and finally touched the prestigious club. Hello is now the 36th film in the overall list of million dollar films in overseas.

Annapurna Studios banner has produced the film and has debutante Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead. Anup Rubens is the music composer.

MCA marching towards $1M , Okka Kshanam posts impressive numbers

After a period of dormancy, Tollywood movies are showing some might at the overseas box office. Last week’s releases MCA and Hello are extending their decent run with moderate figures in the second week and Allu Sirish’s latest release Okka Kshanam has took a surprisingly strong start on its first day.

Nani’s MCA, which dominated last week’s box office, collected 25K on its second Thursday and took the overall total to $ 944K. The film is all set to touch the one million dollar mark by the end of its second weekend. MCA will be third consecutive film and also third film in a single year for Nani to hit the million dollar club.

Akhil’s Hello, which posted impressive figures in its first weekend, is performing consistently in the second weekend and surpassed the $ 800K mark. The film managed to collect on par with MCA on this Thursday and the total stands at $ 833K. Trade analysts predict that it will be touch and go for the million dollar mark.

Allu Sirish’s Okka Kshanam, which released this week, took a promising start on its premiers day with a $ 29K haul. On Friday, the science fiction thriller posted good numbers and took the first day total to $ 79K. This is a very encouraging start and the collections are bound to improve over the weekend.

Hello 1st week Worldwide Collections

Hello had a poor first week with a worldwide distributor share of below 15 Cr. In Comparison, Hero’s debut film Akhil : The Power of Jua had collected a distributor share 17.95 cr (https://www.telugu360.com/tag/akhil/) and ended up as a disaster. Recovery of the film so far is just 45 percent as the theatrical rights are valued for 33 Cr. The film struggled to collect shares during the last two days though the scenario will be better from today and New Year’s Day will be the last big day for it.

Akkineni family is on cloud nine right now with back to back hits at the box office in their home banner, especially with Hello being a perfect relaunch for Akhil. Today Akhil, heroine Kalyani, and music director Anup interacted with the media sharing their happiness over the success of Hello.

Akhil first thanked the audiences for making the film hit and he continued answering the media question along with revealing key things about Hello movie. Akhil said, “I got disappointed with my first film failure, did not came out of my room for many days and watched Akhil movie 30 times to know what exactly went wrong. After my second film with Vikram got confirmed and shooting started than I got back to normal mood.

We have taken a calculated risk for the action sequences that got huge appreciation. For 31 days action, we have rehearsed 62 days with Hollywood stunt master team. The best compliment I received was from a mystery girl who said I stole her heart with my acting in the climax episode of Hello. Music director Anup trained me for 3 months and it helped me to sing the song which is received positively. I am happy to have a producer like my father who involved in every aspect of Hello and it’s not the records or collections giving a good film to audiences was our agenda and we got successful in achieving it. I will announce my third film details on 10th Jan after hearing the final narration, shooting will start from February and will be released in second half of 2018.

Akhil continued saying that, “I couldn’t sleep before release date until I heard positive reports from US premieres. Three things worked for the Hello according to me firstly perfect casting then performances from all the actor and finally Anup Rubens background score which made everyone get emotionally connected with the movie. I haven’t taken any remuneration and my father making the film itself is enough for me. Audiences have liked the new age action sequences I have done in Hello and even in my upcoming movies, I will make sure to add something new. I am not correct for television which requires continuous energy which I lack. Samantha is planning the new year trip and we will go by her plan. I like new age realistic films which have a strong story line in them and I will take care these things are present in my future projects.”

Akhil Akkineni took his time and tested his luck with Hello which released during the Christmas season. Despite of positive word of mouth, the collections of the film have not been remarkable. However Akhil’s performance along with his screen presence received decent response which made the actor happy. The actor shifted his focus towards his next and is currently on a break. During his recent media interaction, Akhil revealed that he is currently enjoying the success of Hello.

Akhil revealed that he would announce the details about his third project on January 10th. There have been several speculations about his next film and Akhil is all set to keep an end to these rumours with his big announcement. There are talks that Tamil director Atlee will direct his next film and will be made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil languages. More details soon.

Would ‘Hello’ been a better fare at BO as a Summer release ?

Akkineni Akhil’s relaunch film, Hello, released amid good pre-release buzz and expectations. And thankfully, the film garnered good reports from the first day and the word of mouth has been pretty encouraging. Unfortunately, that didn’t convert into box office numbers as the first weekend collections are very ordinary, if not dismal.

With the current talk, one would feel that the film may gallop to the break-even mark in its full run. But, the latest trade trends suggest that the film is likely to end as a loss venture. The film’s pre-release business of Hello is nearly 30 Crores.

The share at the end of four days is close to 12 Crores, which is a very disappointing figure given the positive talk the film garnered. This week two more films are releasing and Nani’s MCA is giving stiff competition to Hello. So, trade analysts opine that Hello might end as a flop at the box office.

Some popular analysts opine that Hello could have fared well had it been a Summer release given the fact that audience embrace multiple films at that time of the year. Also, the long run will be an added advantage for Summer releases. For Hello, there is a little breathing space at the box office due to the release of other films and also the release of Sankranthi films might further dent its box office performance.

Producer Nagarjuna might have committed a colossal mistake by releasing the film at the fag end of year. Had it been a Summer release, the box office story could have been a different and heartwarming one for both Akhil and his fans.

Gone are the days when directors finalize a script and then find a suitable actor who fits the bill. These days, it is the combination which is given much priority than the story. Quite often we are noticing many projects getting announced even before the director involved is ready with a script. Recently, Naga Chaitanya’s film with Maruthi was officially announced by Sithara Entertainments banner. Apparently, Maruthi has no story for Chaitu and the announcement came as a surprise. However, the film went on floors after Maruthi had readied a script.

Now, it is once again learnt that one more project was confirmed before the director has a story on hand. During Hello promotions, Akkineni Nagarjuna revealed that Vikram Kumar will soon team up with Naga Chaitanya. Many felt that this is an interesting combination and were eagerly waiting to see what the duo has in store for them. However, Vikram is yet to work on the script for this project. It is heard that he has not yet finalized the storyline and the project might not happen immediately. Vikram revealed that he and Chaitu are yet to discuss on what genre are they going to work on.

Before directing Chaitu, the Manam director is looking to work on another Telugu project and Nani is likely to play the lead role in it. So, Vikram Kumar’s film with Chaitu might go on floors in 2019.

After keeping trade circles in a state of dullness for nearly three months, Telugu films have finally made some talking at the overseas box office with the release of MCA and Hello. Both these films, which released in successive days, opened on a promising note with strong numbers from premiers day.

By the end of the first weekend, both films posted impressive figures despite slightly slowing down after the strong start. While MCA zoomed past $ 700K, Akhil’s Hello surpassed the $ 600 K by the end of Sunday.

MCA took off to a terrific start with career best openings for Nani with just over $ 300K from Wednesday premiers. The family entertainer then consistently collected $ 120K, 110K and $ 110K on the next three days. The lack of shows on Sunday night due to Christmas eve has slightly impacted the figures but the film managed to zoom past the $ 700K mark with ease. This is a very good run considering the talk the film garnered after the Wednesday premiers.

Akhil’s Hello also performed on par with the expectations in its opening weekend. The romantic drama, which became Akhil’s career best in overseas with just the premiers day figures ( $ 214K), collected decent numbers on the next three days to take the total past $ 600K by the end of Sunday. On Friday and Saturday, the film notched up $152K and $ 148K and touched the half million mark in style. On Sunday, the film might end up collecting close to $ 100K. It might be touch and go for the film to enter the million dollar club.

Telugu films Hello and MCA, which released this week amid huge expectations, are having a moderate run at the overseas box office after a good start on their premiers day. Both MCA and Hello started their box office journey with career best premiers day figures for both Nani and Akhil. While MCA collected $ 303K from Wednesday premiers, Hello bagged $ 210K from Thursday premiers.

Both films slowed down in the first weekend and managed to collect only moderate figures by the end of Saturday. As per the overseas trade reports, Hello touched the half a million dollar mark with Saturday’s $ 140K haul. This is Akhil’s career best after his debut film lost without a trace at the overseas box office.

On the other side, MCA surpassed the $ 600K mark by the end of Saturday. The family entertainer managed to collect $ 110K( approx) on Saturday. Both these films should have a good run during Christmas holiday to sustain at the overseas box office.

When Nagarjuna announced that he is going to relaunch Akhil under his home banner, it was quite obvious that he will closely monitor every aspect relating to the making of the film. From overseeing the production activities to promotions, Nagarjuna got thoroughly involved in everything and he was in a very confident mood before its release. Thankfully, Hello opened to promising reports from all quarters.

While Vikram Kumar’s simple yet beautiful narration is one of the biggest assets, it is especially the fine editing that helped the film big time to make up for a good watch for the viewers. The reason behind this is said to be Nagarjuna’s editing. A source in the known revealed that Nag donned the editor’s hat and chopped out nearly 25 minutes of film during post production.

He edited out scenes which he felt are unnecessary and also ensured that the childhood episodes are untouched in the final cut, said the source. Well, it seems Nag has tried all his best to make it a perfect relaunch for his son.

Akkineni Akhil’s second film Hello, which released this Friday amid good expectations, started off on a promising note at the domestic and the overseas box office. The film collected decent figures on its opening day and the figures from overseas premiers are quite encouraging.

According to the latest trade reports, Hello raked in $ 210K from its Thursday premiers and surpassed the full run of Akhil’s debut film, Akhil. This is a promising start for Hello considering its box office competition with Nani’s latest release MCA which is performing on par with the trade expectations despite the mixed talk it received from Wednesday premiers.

Hello is benefited largely from the clean slate narration by Vikram Kumar and the rich production values from Annapurna Studios despite a time tested formulaic template. With decent reports coming in from all quarters, Hello should hold well during the first weekend.

Nani ahead of Akhil in advance bookings

This week it will be Natural star Nani and Akkineni Akhil who are going to vie at the box office when their upcoming films MCA and Hello hit the screens on successive days ( 21st and 22nd). Nani is coming from back to back box office hits and Akhil will face a litmus test as Hello is billed as his relaunch after the debut outing misfired badly.

While Akhil is promoting the film aggressively, Nani is purely banking on his success track for good openings. In terms of market and pre release buzz, Hello has a slight edge over MCA. Surprisingly, it is Nani who is ahead of Akhil in terms of advance bookings. MCA is generating good bookings than Hello in all major areas for which advance bookings are opened.

Both films are getting good screen count in Telugu states and Overseas. So, it would be interesting to see which film will emerge as winner at the box office.

MCA is directed by Venu Sriram and Hello has Vikram Kumar at the helm.
