Revoke Dr Sudhakar suspension unconditionally: TDP

1

TDP former Minister KS Jawahar on Friday demanded the YCP Government to reinstate the suspended Dr Sudhakar without setting any preconditions and stop harassing his family members immediately.

Mr. Jawahar objected to a ruling party Dalit Minister now trying to mediate to convince the Dalit doctor’s family to withdraw his accusations and issues fresh statements in favour of the Jagan Reddy Government. The Minister concerned was very shamefully citing relations with Dr. Sudhakar’s family to dilute whatever harassment that was meted out to the doctor till now. Obviously, this was just another tactic of the Government to pressurise and coerce the doctor into surrendering to the wishes of the Chief Minister.

Mr. Jawahar asked the Dalit leaders and Ministers in the ruling party why they could not prevent harassment of their community doctor in the hands of the upper caste leaders in their party. The YCP weaker sections leaders just watched as silent spectators while atrocities were committed against Dr Sudhakar, former MP Harsha Kumar, Mahasena leader Rajesh and others. The time has come for YCP Dalit leaders to either do justice for the doctor or choose to serve Jagan Reddy as his party slaves.

Stating that Dalits enjoyed rights thanks to Ambedkar till now, Mr. Jawahar said that with his upper caste attitude, Jagan Reddy was suppressing and driving the weaker sections people back into slavery, servitude and poverty. The CM should realise his pride would only go before his fall which would not take a long time considering his bad decisions. Under Jagan, human rights have hit a new low in Andhra Pradesh which is now being seen as worse than even Bihar.

BJP can’t win a single seat: AP Minister

0

TDP is stepping up its criticism of BJP each passing day. Now, Excise Minister K.S. Jawahar went to the extent of saying that BJP will not win a single MLA seat in the coming 2019 elections in Andhra Pradesh.

The confidence of TDP leaders is understandable seeing how much BJP leaders have rubbed salt into the wounds of already greatly-hurt AP people with regard to the special status, funds allocation and other failed promises.

During his current tour in Guntur district, Minister Jawahar said that YCP leader Jagan, Jana Sena leader Pawan and BJP leader Khanna Laxminarayana should bear the entire blame for the betrayal of AP people by the Centre. So much was promised to AP at the time of bifurcation. In the past four years, BJP did nothing to undo injustice done to AP and the people would not forget this, Jawahar said.

The Minister made a special mention of Pawan during his speeches when he said that Jana Sena leader had no sense of direction. While Chiranjeevi sold out Praja Rajyam Party to Congress wholesale, Pawan is going to sell out Jana Sena to BJP by retail, he added.

Jawahar represents Kovvur assembly constituency in West Godavari district and his attack comes timely as Pawan is focusing right now on the Godavari districts in order to make some early gains ahead of elections.

Rename TS-CM’s farm house as KCR Jyothishyalayam : K S Jawahar

0

Andhra Pradesh Minister of Excise, KS Jawahar suggested to rename the farm house of Telangana Chief Minister as “KCR jyothishyalayam”. He said that the K. Chandrasekhar Rao instead of working on his administration in TS, is speaking about their neighbouring state.

This comes as a reaction to TRS supremo’s analysis that more voters are in favour of the opposition YSR Congress Party in AP. KCR said in New Delhi on Thursday that the YSRCP has 45 per cent support of the voters while the ruling TDP has 43 per cent vote share which created flutter in the AP TDP cadre.

These comments have increased the pressure on the top leaders of the ruling part as they have to pacify the party cadre who are worried. Nonetheless the leaders feel that it is all about mind-game to confuse the people.

KCR said that Andhra Pradesh cannot expect to be free from the caste politics in the near future. So, Jawahar blamed Jagan for creating turmoil between castes. He said that Jagan and Mudragadda Padmanabam are instigating Manda Krishna Madiga.

TDP leader Buddha Venkanna alleged that KCR and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy have reached some hidden understanding.

Lucky that AP doesn’t have pub culture : Jawahar

0

Just about a week after terming beer a “health drink”, Minister K S Jawahar said that Andhra Pradesh is fortunate that it doesn’t have pub culture. Speaking to the media on drug menace in Telangana, he said that not even one case has been registered in AP on drugs usage.

He also said that the government is taking measures to prevent marijuana cultivation in the Visakhapatnam Agency areas. The Minister also said that they will run campaigns in schools and colleges to create awareness on detriments of using drugs.

It may be noted that the actors and actress from Tollywood were already served notices under section 67 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on Wednesday by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Telangana prohibition and excise department for substance abuse.

AP Liquor policy: Minister gives his phone number, yet to explain the figures

0

The new liquor policy, which came into force on July1, triggered statewide agitations opposing liquor shops and bars. Andhra Pradesh Excise Minister K S Jawahar requested protestors to contact him on his mobile number 9951314101 instead of breaking liquor bottles in the shops and demanding closure. Women in the state are aggressively agitating against the new alcohol policy in the state. The minister said that they resolved 11 of the 13 complaints received across the state. Despite the opposition, official records reveal that Rs 333.35 crores of liquor was purchased from the government godowns from July1 to 6.

Fresh licenses are being issued from July 1 in accordance with the new excise policy as the licenses of all the liquor shops and bars expired on June 30. Only 23percent of wine shops and 11percent bars in the state got licenses and did business at the beginning of the week. In the wake of Supreme Court orders, bar and restaurants in the range of 500 and 220 meters of the national and state highways were forcefully removed. Two days after the policy came into force, not even 20percent of shops opened. Consequently, merchants tried to establish bars and liquor shops in residential areas. This led to strong opposition from women and locals. The state cabinet ordered denotify portions of highways passing through cities as urban or district major roads (DMR) on Tuesday. A measure to shield the existing shops from the scope of the Supreme Court guidelines. With this denotification, liquor shops started procuring licenses. But, the sale of alcohol in unauthorized belt shops is a result of the growth in sales. Officials said that they served notices to dealers as the locals objected wine shops in residential areas or in the vicinity of places of worship or educational institutions. The Minister said that cases were booked against 6,324 belt shops, 2,901 were arrested and 106 vehicles seized.

As per the reports, 92new bars were given licenses while 463 bars of the 743bars got new licenses as of Thursday. AP Prohibition and Excise Department officials issued licences to 3,100 liquor shops of 4380 liquor shops in the state. Even though the government gave time till August15 for procuring new licenses, a majority of wine shop owners took licenses in just 5days. Officials also do not have any major restrictions to avoid giving permissions. Despite facing opposition, Rs 333.35crores worth liquor being sold in five days is raising doubts. However, the government claims that it incurred around Rs 125 to Rs135crore loss. The new license policy not only reduces the license fee but also keeps the license valid for 5years.

Why did Jawahar call Beer a health drink

Leaders of TDP and ally BJP also extended support to the agitations in the various parts of the state. Opposition YSRCP, Congress, Left parties and activists participated in the agitation. However Excise Minister raised a controversy when he termed beer a “health drink”. He even sent report to TV9 on Tuesday morning, listing the “health benefits” of beer, in a note titled ‘13 amazing benefits of beer’.

This statement from the minister comes acknowledging the fact that TDP Government decided to produce Draught beer in large quantities by giving away permissions to micro-breweries in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada especially for supply near beaches on similar lines with Goa. Draught beer is a form of the drink which served from a keg or cask with less preservatives and retains most of the flavour that it had when it was brewed. Consequently the shelf life is very less and when consumed in restricted quantities, draught beer helps control cholesterol and prevents kidney stones. The minister reportedly said that since it is difficult to prevent people from consuming alcohol, he made a failed rather controversial attempt to introduce locally-brewed beer with far less alcohol content.
