Sep 10 weekend Report : MMA Gets better on 3rd day, YS disappoints

0

1. Yuddham Sharanam – The film has taken a below par opening with first day share being less than 2cr. Poor word of mouth has resulted nill improvement over the weekend and ended up with an estimated share of 3.45 Cr. This is one of the lowest 3 day share for the hero and less than many of his disasters.

2. Meda Meeda Abbayi – The opening was on the lines of Yudham Sharanam with day share less than 1Cr. But unlike that film this has maintained steady collections on Saturday and came on board on Sunday with a very good jump. Sunday Collections of the film are what they should have been on Friday to be called a good weekend thus it looks average now. This improvement gives a hope that it may sustain from today. Estimated weekend share for the film is 2.3 Cr.

HOLDOVERS :

1. Both Paisa Vasool & Arjun Reddy had similar collections over the weekend with a minimal difference. They have collected an estimated share of 75 lakhs and 70 lakhs in their 2nd and 3rd weekends respectively taking cumulative totals to 16.2 Cr & 15.6 Cr. Paisa Vasool is a DISASTER while Arjun Reddy is a BLOCKBUSTER.

2. Fidaa with a sensational run completed 50 days in major centres and continued to rake shares even it’s 8th weekend which is phenomenal. It collected more than 36 cr share and the area wise closing will be updated in the website soon.

Yuddham Sharanam and MMA off to a dismal start in overseas

0

Akkineni Naga Chaitanaya and Allari Naresh are testing their luck at the box office this week with Yuddham Sharanam and Meda Meeda Abbayi. Both these films released amidst decent expectations.

In overseas, Yuddham Sharanam kick started its box office journey on a poor note. The film released in decent number of screens, but failed to make a promising start from its Thursday premiers. According to the trade update, the film collected a meagre $ 33K from premiers, which is a very disappointing start compared to the opening of Chaitu’s previous outings. His last film Ra Randoi Veduka Choodam collected $ 67K from its Thursday premiers. Trade analysts predict that Yuddham Sharanam might be a huge disaster as the talk from audience and critics is not so encouraging.

Allari Naresh’s Meda Meeda Abbayi took a dismal start at the overseas box office. The film has hardly collected $ 1K from its Thursday premiers, which is shockingly low number for a notable hero like Naresh. The film is likely to end up as a huge loss venture for distributors and exhibitors.

With a disappointing start for both the latest releases, Tollywood’s sensational hit Arjun Reddy will look to notch up few more promising numbers in this weekend.

No takers for Allari Naresh ‘Meda Meeda Abbayi’

0

A few years ago, when the likes of Nani, Sharwanand, Nikhil etc. were struggling, Allari Naresh used to enjoy the ‘minimum guarantee hero’ tag. Made on small budget and promising decent returns, his films used to be hot cakes in trade. This was the case 4-5 years ago. Now, buyers are not interested in his movies. The situation is so worse that producer of his new film has been left with no option but own release.

Naresh’s new film ‘Meda Meeda Abbayi’ has been waiting to see the daylight for the past few months. As no buyer is daring to release the film in the Telugu states, makers have been worriedly yet patiently waiting. Releasing the film on his own is the only option remained for the producer. 4-5 years ago, the scenario was completely opposite. Naresh used to deliver at least four films every year and maintain enviable success ratio.

After touching career peak with ‘Sudigadu’ (2012), no one expected Naresh to go through such a gradual downfall. He hasn’t had a single convincing hit in the last five years, post Sudigadu. The major reason for Naresh losing his market is the vastly changed taste of Telugu audiences. The industry has been going through a transition from commercial masala stuff to content-based films, and Naresh somehow ‘lost in transition’.

It is not that Naresh hasn’t tried to break the monotony in his films. Even his fresh attempts like ‘Laddu Babu’ and ‘Bandipotu’ didn’t work at box office. He now needs a lot of luck and an out of the box idea to resurrect his career.
