TDP wins Nandyal bypoll with 27456 votes majority

Telugu Desam Party won the Nandyal byelection with a huge margin surpassing all the expectations. The ruling party candidate candidate Bhuma Bramananda Reddy,32, won the Nandyal bypoll with 27,466 majority. Though the election campaign was fiery, the result was
one-sided in favour of TDP.

TDP polled 97106 votes while Opposition candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy polled 69640 votes. Congress polled over thousand votes. TDP candidate had the lead in all rounds except the 16th round.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed happiness over TDP’s victory with a good majority. He hoped that in the future, people will be on their side and said that he has confidence that people will extend cooperation to the ruling party .

TDP was lead in all the three areas of Nandyal Rural with 13056 votes, Nandyal Urban with 12309 and 1788 votes in Gospadu. The Cycle party marched into YSRCP’s strong hold Gospadu graciously.

Minister Nara Lokesh Thanked the people of Nandyal for believing in development agenda and giving a fitting reply to criminal politics of the opposition party.

Nandyal bypoll was required after MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy died of a heart attack in March2017. He switched loyalties from YSRCP and joined the TDP in 2016.

Nandyal bypoll: 60 per cent voter turnout recorded till 2:00pm

The voting process in Nandyal is going on smoothly with voters enthusiastically using their right to vote like never before. 60% polling percentage was recorded till 2:00pm in Nandyal. The total number of voters in the Nandyal constituency is 2,18,858, of which 1,07,778 are men, and 1,11,018 are women. By the afternoon, 1,16,214 voters of which 56,268 men and 59,954 women have exercised their right to vote.

The polling percentage is expected to surpass the highest number 73% casted in 1983. The voting percentage in rural areas has increased considerably compared to the urban areas. The 33.40 per cent polling recorded at 11 am was due to the voters of Nandyal Mandal and Gospadu Mandal who showed interest in using their voting rights.

YSR Congress Party candidate Shilpa Mohan Reddy along with his family members voted at Ramakrishna School Polling Center in Sanjeev Nagar. Member of Parliament SPY Reddy casted his vote in the polling station at Gandhinagar.

The polling process, which began at 7 am, will continue till 6pm in the evening. The polling is being conducted in 255 centres and a total of 2500 personnel are deployed on the by-election duty. Rayalaseema IG Iqbal is monitoring the polling in Nandyal constituency.

Pawan Kalyan clarifies Jana Sena’s stance on Nandyal bypoll

Tollywood actor-cum-politician Pawan Kalyan said that Jana Sena Party will remain neutral in the upcoming Nandyal by-election. He informed the electorate to disregard the rumours of Jana Sena extending support to any particular party or any candidate for that matter.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Kalyan said that the party will be participating in only after ground level elections are completed. He said the party is still under construction and that they won’t be competing in any elections until 2019.

Kalyan on 31July during a press meet announced that their party stand on Nandyal by-poll will be revealed in couple of days. However, the announcement was not made even on the last date for filing nomination. Speculations were rife that Jana Sena will be extending support to Telugu Desham Party. However, in a fortnight following the initial statement, Kalyan today said that their party is not participating in elections and their stance is nonaligned.

Nandyal bypoll: Balayya takes part in roadshow

Tollywood Actor and Telugu Desham Party MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna participated in roadshow at in Venkateshwarapuram to campaign for the Nandyal by-election on Wednesday. Addressing the gathering, he said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been taking necessary actions for development of Nandyal. The actor-cum-politician said that Nandyal by-poll is a fight between morality and corruption, justice and injustice.

The Hindupur MLA came down heavily on Silpa brothers and critiqued that they were “selfish”, despite being given honorable positions in the TDP. Balakrishna said that Silpa Chakrapani Reddy was encouraged by TDP to be MLC as he wanted to do public service, but in the end betrayed the party. He called on to the electorates to vote for development. He asked the voters to cautious from people who speak pleasantly but act horridly.

He said that Bhuma Nagi Reddy’s daughters are under distress and suggested that people should stand up for them in such difficult times. Balakrishna said it is time for voters to teach a lesson to those who are resorting to divisive politics.

Nandyal bypoll: TDP and YSRCP lock horns over disqualification

The election of Nandyal are in fortnight and under these circumstances, Telugu Desham Party and YSR Congress are leaving no stone unturned. TDP lodged complaint with the election commission stating that the nomination filed by YSRCP candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy’s is invalid. They raised an objection that the judicial stamp paper was not used as per rules. They also stated cited that notary who signed on the affidavit did not have a renewal. TDP filed a complaint with the Returning Officer on the grounds that the nomination was not in accordance with the rules.

Following this complaint, YSRCP filed a complaint with the election commission seeking disqualification of the TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy. The quoted that Bramhananda Reddy failed to furnish his income tax details fully. The returning officer set aside the nomination papers of both the candidates based on the complaints.

Chandrababu blesses Bhuma’s family, nominates Brahamananda for Nandyal bypoll

After a long wait, Telugu Desham Party has finally named the candidate for Nandyal by poll elections. As expected the chance is given to Bhuma’s family member Bhuma Brahamananda Reddy. The seat felt vacant after the untimely demise of Bhuma Nagi Reddy in February.

Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya Reddy who lobbied hard for cousin Brahmananda Reddy, has been already commenced campaigning in the constituency. Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy said that no other name camp up for consideration so consequently, the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu himself announced Brahmananda Reddy’s name.

Following the defection of Silpa Mohan Reddy from TDP to YSRCP, Chief Minister on Saturday after reviewing the situation in the constituency, took the decision in favour of Bhuma’s family.

Krishnamurthy said that the party has seen the functioning Mohan Reddy in the past as minister, so they know how to face him in by-election. He also clarified that AV Subba Reddy attended the meeting with the CM and assured to work with Bhuma family and asserted that he would not be going against the party.

He reiterated that Mohan Reddy’s exit from the party would not cause any damage to the party.
