Surveys in Telangana give equal chance to all parties?

0

Though KCR has categorically said that there would be no advancing of the polls in Telangana, the major political parties in the state are in no mood to take chances. All the major political parties in the state have commissioned surveys with the help of reputed opinion survey organisations. Leading the pack is the ruling TRS, which has hired the redoubtable Team PK.

The initial surveys have shown that the performance of the candidates is the top most priority for the voters. Secondly, the performance of the CM or CM candidate too influences the voting behaviour. Thirdly, the party comes to play. The surveys say that the performance of the candidate is important. Thus, 68 of the 103 TRS MLAs are second -time MLAs and hence, there is considerable anti-incumbency against them.

As a result, the TRS is likely to replace a majority of them. This is making most of the sitting MLAs restive. At the same time, the other parties like the BJP and the Congress are planning to target these 68 constituencies where there is a greater chance of their winning. The election agencies are said to be preparing different strategies for these seats.

Meanwhile, quite interestingly, all the survey agencies are giving at least 60 seats to both Congress, BJP and the TRS. The survey agencies say that as of now all the parties are equally poised to win. But, the strategies, tactics and the campaign will decide who will win or lose. The parties are said to be cross checking the survey results.

Telangana’s 2.8 crore voters cast their ballot on Friday in the advanced assembly elections in the state, where the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government is trying to retain power against a Congress-led four-party alliance with the BJP seeking to make it a triangular contest.

The TRS led by caretaker chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) dissolved the assembly about eight months ahead of schedule in the hope of taking the opposition parties by surprise but the Congress threw its own surprise by coming up with its alliance, in which it also roped in its one-time foe, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
