Yanam Congress leader Malladi Krishna Rao is known for his close links with the YSR family. In his capacity as Puducherry Health Minister, he met and represented Yanam problems to AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy. He requested Jagan for getting special status to Yanam as well along with Andhra Pradesh.

It’s an open secret that the BJP government at the Centre already clarified that there’s no question of giving special status to any state any longer. Even Jaganmohan Reddy expressed helplessness saying that he can only make a humble request to the Central Government which has got full majority in the Parliament with no need to depend on the YCP support.

Why is Yanam leader making this request despite knowing ground situation? Many industries shifted to AP to take advantage of special status. They are still expecting the status some day. This has damaged job prospects in Yanam. Krishna Rao is now bent on using his influence with Jagan to get advantage for his place.
