Several filmmakers have been keen on bringing the life stories of prominent personalities to cinema. The biopic of legendary politician and ex-Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy is on cards and it has been titled Yatra. Malayalam Superstar Mammootty has been roped in to reprise the role of YSR in the movie. Mahi V Raghav is the director of this prestigious film.

The latest update is that Bhoomika Chawla has been roped to play YS Jagan’s sister YS Sharmila in the movie. The actress signed the dotted line recently. The regular shoot commenced recently and Yatra will hit the screens during the end of this year. Ashrita Vemuganti will play YS Vijayamma and 70mm Entertainments is bankrolling this prestigious film.

YSR Biopic

Telugu360 was the first to reveal that Malayalam Superstar Mammootty is in talks to reprise the role of legendary politician YS Rajasekhar Reddy in his biopic. Now the film’s director Mahi V Raghav confirmed the news saying that the Superstar gave his nod for the role and the regular shoot of the prestigious project will kick-start from June. “Yatra” is the working title of the film and it is yet to be locked. The young director has been working on the script from the past few months and interesting aspects from YSR’s life have been picked up and they are worked on.

However Mahi V Raghav trashed the rumours of Suriya and Nayanthara being approached for other key roles YS Jagan and YS Vijayamma respectively. “My focus stood completely on the lead actor and once Mammootty sir came on to the board, I am working on the rest of the cast. No one has been approached till date. Will be meeting Mammootty sir soon and will work together for the characterization of YSR. We are in plans to make the film on high standards and we have done enough research on his role” informed Mahi V Raghav to a leading news daily.

Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy will produce this prestigious project. More details to be out soon.
