Gone are the days of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s when top heroes could deliver minimum guaranteed revenues at the box office, regardless of the film’s content or talk. Back then, every major star had a consistent market range, and barring a few exceptions, their films performed reasonably well.
Today, even top heroes can only push their market range if the film has strong content. Otherwise, they’re struggling to even recover the minimum guarantee. No hero can gaurantee matinee show full if divided talk
If a top star’s name alone can’t pull audiences to theatres, they simply can’t justify demanding double digit crore remunerations.
It’s time Tollywood stars shift towards profit-sharing or minimal base pay models.
And the directors too being paid unreasonable amounts.
