Majority of the constituencies in the undivided Nizamabad district will have triangle competition in upcoming Telangana Assembly elections and Kamareddy is among them which will be experienced a tough fight between TRS, Congress and BJP.

The TRS party has announced the sitting MLA and whip in the legislation assembly Mr. Gampa Govardhan Reddy as its candidate at Kamareddy while opposition leader in the legislation council Mr. Shabbir Ali is suppose to contest from here and he has already begun campaign. Besides these two contenders, the BJP is almost finalized the name of ex-chairman of Zilla Parishad Mr. Venkata Ramana Reddy.

The TRS is more focusing on the migrations of 2nd class leaders from Congress and BJP in order to strengthen its cadre and it had already succeeded in reaching its goal on ‘Operation Akarsh’, which led Mr. Shabbir Ali to stick to the segment to protect the cadre of Congress. Meanwhile, the BJP’s candidate Mr. Venkata Ramana Reddy is organizing door-to-door campaign along with VHP, BJYM and RSS workers.

While all the three key contenders have cadre strength in the segment, the strategies by the parties is being changed day-by-day. Mr. Gampa Govardhan Reddy began his political career in 1987 by contesting as Single-Window Chairman and got succeeded. He contested as MLA from Kamareddy for five times and got victory for five terms. Though the TRS candidates are facing threats from rebels in other segments, Mr. Govardhan Reddy took precautions to ensure rebel-less situations. But, the opposition leader Mr. Shabbir Ali is a strong contender to him. Mr. Ali began his political career in 1987 by winning MPP seat from Machareddy mandal and elected as MLA from Kamareddy in 1989 followed by getting chance in cabinet. He lost his election in 1994 and 99 but got victory in 2004 and served as minister in Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s cabinet. He is facing threats of migrations from the party as majority of 2nd class leaders were shifted to TRS including his key associates. The BJP has hopes on its strong cadre and traditional vote bank of Hindus.
