Hyderabad: Speculation is rife over revival of AP Secretariat in Hyderabad as soon as YS Jaganmohan Reddy becomes chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Yes, according to sources close to YSRCP chief, YS Jagan may favour working from AP Secretariat in Hyderabad and Amaravati as well. It may be observed that still he runs party operations and electoral meetings from his residence Lotus Pond in Hyderabad except participating in public meetings and road shows, YS Jagan spends most of his time in Hyderabad, said a senior YSRCP leader.

According to AP Reorganisation Act-2014, residual Andhra Pradesh can use infrastructure in Hyderabad till 2024 as the City of Nizams continues to be a joint capital for both the Telugu states during the period. AP chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu shifted secretariat and relocated staff to Amaravati three years ago. However, the Centre is yet to make a gazette notification announcing Amaravati as capital city of Andhra Pradesh.

“If YSRCP is voted to power, then YS Jaganmohan Reddy will be more comfortable to run his government by reviving AP Secretariat in Hyderabad, while continue to use existing infrastructure at Amaravati. This has become a topic of discussion among government officials and political circles. After the elections held on April 11, this is being speculated among Telangana officials and employees as well,” maintained the source.

It may be recalled that during election campaigning, YS Jaganmohan Reddy used to stay at Hyderbad at night and fly back in the morning to AP to continue poll campaigning. YS Jaganmohan Reddy basically hails from Pulivendula in Kadapa district. He recently built a lavish house at Amaravati. Bengaluru is another place, where YS Jagan has a mansion-type residence. “Despite all these, YS Jaganmohan Reddy loves to spend time in Hyderabad. During the past five years after bifurcation of AP, he managed to run the party from his Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad,” further added the source.
