YCP cautious and silent on new India map

The opposition Telugu Desam Party is celebrating the inclusion of Amaravati in India map as its grand victory. MP Galla Jayadev is getting all-round praise for successfully getting Amaravati recognised as AP Capital by the Centre. On their part, the ruling YCP leaders are maintaining a calculated silence on the sensitive issue. They can neither issue counters to the TDP leaders nor can they comment on the updated map released by the Survey of India.

Till now, the YCP Ministers are dragging the Capital issue on the pretext of GN Rao Experts Committee. But now they are under tremendous pressure to finalise their party stand. Going by his government’s decisions in the past six months, Jagan Reddy is personally committed to shifting Capital out of Amaravati. But he is waiting for Experts Committee report. At such a time, the map issue came as an embarrassment to the AP government.

Analysts say that the Modi-Shah duo dealt a severe blow to Jagan Reddy’s master plan on Capital shifting with their one single change in India map. Amaravati is now marked in Red Letters as AP Capital in the 9th edition of the Political Map of India. The map is made available in the official website of Survey of India.
