Rajinikanth 2.0 promotions

It is an undeniable fact that the benchmark promotions by Baahubali producers have contributed largely to the franchise’s grand success at the box office. Rajamouli and his team broke a new ground with their aggressive marketing strategies. Never did the producers were spendthrift. In fact, the promotions for both parts of Baahubali were judiciously planned with a canny approach.

The no-nonsense and prudent promotional campaign chalked out by team Baahubali should definitely serve as a reference book for other big ticket filmmakers in India. But, the makers of India’s costliest film, 2.0, starring Rajinikanth in the lead, seems to have failed thoroughly to take a cue from Baahubali producers . Here is why ?

2.0, directed by hitmaker Shankar, is easily the most awaited tent pole film in this season. Trade circles are in the view that 2.0 is one film which has a strong chance to come closer to Baahubali in terms of its box office parameters. For a film like 2.0, with such a crazy combination and high budget riding on it, strong promotions are indeed all-important.

Recently, a grand audio event amidst flamboyant arrangements took place in Dubai. Reports suggest that the makers have splurged around 13 Crores for this lavish event. Many felt that the makers have spent profusely for the event to release just two songs. Also, as a part of the aggressive promotions, they have launched life size air balloons from the iconic Hollywood signage which will travel across the world. It is believed that the makers have frittered away around 25 Crores for promotions till now.

With latest reports coming that the film is postponed to Summer next year, all money spent on promotions till now will go down the drain because they have to promote again before the the film’s release. The untimely promotions will go futile and the lack of proper planning will surely cost a bomb for the production house.
