Superstar Rajinikanth and Shankar’s combo 2.0 released across the globe on November 29th and received decent response. The film raked decent revenues all over in its final run. The film is now gearing up for a record release in China during May 2019. The makers Lyca Productions revealed that they are associated with Beijing-based production and distribution company HY Media.

2.0 will release across 57,000 screens in China during May 2019 out of which 47,000 screens will be in 3D. The censor and other formalities will be wrapped up soon. 2.0 is a visual feast that features Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles. Lyca Productions produced this visual wonder that is made on a budget close to Rs 600 crores.

Rajinikanth starrer 2Point0 picked up well at the US box office on its first Saturday after a lukewarm start with moderate numbers on its first two days.

The Shankar directional, which opened with heavy expectations from trade circles, took off to a slow start from Wednesday premiers. The film collected close to $ 980K on first day including premiers. There is a noticeable jump in numbers on Friday as the film lapped up just over $ 700K to take the total past $ 1.6 M.

On its first Saturday, 2Point0 notched up strong revenues in all areas and collected more than $ 1M gross to surpass the $ 2.5M mark at the US box office. Due to poor planning and high ticket prices, the film started off quite disappointingly. But, it is now set for a strong show on weekend. Trade circles have pinned hopes on a solid weekend performance for the film to emerge as a box office hit in overseas.

The extravagant visuals and the power-packed performances by the star cast have garnered decent reviews from critics.

Shankar’s highly anticipated visual extravaganza ‘2Point0’ opened on a grand note all over the world this Thursday. Billed as the costliest Indian film to date, 2Point0 was entirely shot in 3D to give a great viewing experience to moviegoers. Surprisingly, the film couldn’t get a single IMAX release due to the delay done by the production team. This has thoroughly disappointed fans across the country. 2Point0 was shot in 6K format and 4D SLR technology, which are IMAX compatible. The makers were initially in plans to get majority of the IMAX screens all over the country. However, they failed to submit the film two weeks before its release to IMAX for fine tuning it. Due to extensive post production work, 2Point0 team couldn’t meet the deadline. In the last minute, the makers of this magnum opus science fiction thriller have withdrawn the decision to get IMAX screening leaving audience utterly disappointed. Being the biggest technical film of India, an IMAX screening would have created a better impact on the viewers. Revenue wise, IMAX contributes nearly 5 percent of the total box office collection.

2Point0 took a thumping start at the box office with massive openings in all languages. Shankar’s narration and eye popping visuals are getting good response from audience across the country. Lyca Productions is behind this big budget entertainer.

Telugu360 already revealed that piracy group Tamil Rockers challenged the team of 2.0 after they announced that they would release the pirated version online on the release day. As challenged, Tamil Rockers released the film on their website today. Director Shankar and the team of 2.0 urged Rajinikanth fans to support them and prevent piracy before the release.

2.0 which is made on a whopping budget of Rs 600 crores released across the globe today in 3D in various languages. Despite of Madras High Court directing 37 internet service providers, Tamil Rockers released the pirated version of 2.0. Over 2000 portals belonging to Tamil Rockers have been blocked after Lyca Productions filed a suit. Lyca Productions today requested all the movie lovers to watch the film on large screen and prevent piracy.

Though most of the Indian screens have been transformed with the latest digital equipment, there are not many 3D screens. For Hollywood films, the number of 3D screens are enough as they get limited release. But things are completely different with Superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0 which is hitting the screens this Thursday in 3D. As the film has been made on a massive budget of Rs 600 crores, the film’s theatrical rights have been sold for record prices.

Most of the audience have been showing interest to watch the film in 3D to get thrilled and there has been huge demand for 3D tickets. When it comes to cities, there are ample number of multiplexes to accommodate the audience but when it comes to towns and villages, there are less number of 3D screens which is worrying the buyers. The pre-release sales for 3D screens have been exceptional. With most of the film lovers waiting to watch 2.0 in 3D, the film’s 2D version may open on an average note.
