Superstar Rajinikanth’s 2Point0 is gearing up for a massive opening this Friday. The Shankar directional is billed as the costliest Indian film to date as the makers have spend a whopping budget for the visuals. Reportedly, the film is going to feature heavy duty VFX effects and the trailers have given a glimpse of what is in store for audience after the film’s release.

It is a known fact that the VFX and CG work of 2Point0 was done in renowned stuidos across the world. This is one of the reasons why the film was delayed several times. Shankar took his own time and got every ready before announcing the release date. So, there are high expectations on the visual content of the film. The whole team is banking heavily on the visuals effects as they are going to be the USP for the film.

Shockingly, Rajinikanth made sensational comments on the film’s visuals during the promotional event in Hyderabad. Rajini said Shankar worked very hard to make this a visual extravaganza, but was nervous and disappointed as the VFX effects didn’t make the cut as they have expected.

NV Prasad offered Rs 72 crores for the theatrical rights and it is costing Rs 80 crores including GST and other taxes. The theatrical rights of 2.0 are valued at over eleven timesmore than the closing numbers of Rajinikanth’s last outing Kaala which is worrying the buyers and all those who are involved in the project. In a territory like East, Kaala raked Rs 54 lakhs (closing share) and the quoting price for 2.0 is Rs 5.5 crores. Kaala’s business closed at Rs 7 crores across Telugu states and 2.0 rights are valued at Rs 80 crores.

The bad season and the low buzz are worrying the buyers though most of the investment would be refundable. Dil Raju is releasing 2.0 in Nizam and Vizag regions. Vamshi is releasing the film across Guntur and Nellore. Ceeded, East and West are handled by NV Prasad. On the whole, NV Prasad and his team are set for a huge gamble with 2.0. Lyca Productions bankrolled 2.0 and Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson played other crucial roles.

VFX Work: The VFX work in Robo impressed the audience big time and it played a major role in the film’s success. The VFX work of 2.0 too should end up impressing everyone.

3D: The major challenge for 3D films is that the film should have a minimum bunch of 3D effects, else the audience would up unsatisfied keeping the spectacles for over three hours.

As Rajinikanth’s previous two films failed badly at box office, it will be a risky attempt to release 2Point0 directly in Telugu states. Though Lyca is aware of the risk factor, they are willing to release on their own. Let’s wait and see if their risk pays off or not.
