The TDP coalition government has accelerated the appointment process for nominated positions in Andhra Pradesh. Recently, 22 corporations and commissions, including the SC/ST Women’s Commission, Press Academy, and Skill Development Corporation, received new chairpersons.
Of these appointments, 16 positions went to Telugu Desam Party members, three to Jana Sena Party, one to BJP, and two to Amaravati Movement JAC representatives. RERA chairperson position is likely going to Amaravati Movement JAC president Shiva Reddy.
The government highlighted social justice in these appointments, allocating eight positions to BC community members, two to SC community, and one to ST community. Former MLA Sesharao was appointed as AP Skill Development Corporation chairman, while Sugunamma became chairperson of AP Greening and Beautification Corporation.
Tadepalligudem TDP in-charge Valavala Babji secured the AP Building and Other Construction Workers Board chairmanship. Former minister KS Jawahar, currently East Godavari district TDP president, was appointed as SC Commission chairman.
Peetala Sujatha, who previously faced technical issues when appointed to the Consumer Protection Council, has now been named chairperson of the Women’s Cooperative Finance Corporation.
For the first time, Amaravati Movement activists received significant positions. Dr. Rayapati Shailaja, who played an active role in the capital protection movement and farmers’ padayatras, was appointed as AP Women’s Commission chairperson. Journalist Alapati Suresh Kumar, who authored a book titled “Destruction” about alleged anarchic incidents during the 2019-2024 YSRCP government, was named Press Academy chairman.
