Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has revealed ambitious plans to develop a ship-building and repair cluster at Dugarajapatnam in Tirupati district with an investment of Rs. 3,500 crores.
Speaking during a review meeting at the Secretariat, Chandrababu Naidu explained that the proposed naval construction centre would attract investments worth approximately Rs. 26,000 crores. “This project will create direct employment for 5,000 people and indirect jobs for about 30,000 locals,” he said, reflecting genuine excitement for the economic potential.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister mentioned that a preliminary feasibility report has already been prepared for this massive project. He shared a vision of developing either a port or a fishing harbour every 50 kilometres along the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu held discussions with the Central Government’s Shipping and Waterways Secretary Ramachandran and other officials to review various coastal projects and ports in the state. The meeting focused on the current status of existing ports and those under construction.
This initiative will help transform Andhra Pradesh’s coastal economy, with Dugarajapatnam positioned to become a major maritime industrial hub in the coming years.
