Actor Captain Raju who acted in films like – Rowdy Alludu, Maatho Pettukoku, Kondapalli Raja, Shatruvu died today. He suffered a stroke during a plane journey to New York and was admitted to a hospital in Muscat. He was brought back to Kochi for further treatment.He died at his residence in Palarivattom, Kochi today.
His original name is Raju Daniel and Captain Raju is his screen name. Before becoming actor he served as Indian military officer. He was called ‘Captain’ because of his army background, He also directed two films besides appearing in a number of Malayalam serials. He had acted in more than 500 films in the languages of Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and English. He was best noted for his performance in character roles, and as a villain. His villain role in Rowdy Alludu as one of the trio of “Neech, Kameen, Kuthe” is still remembered by Telugu audience.
