Adult content on News in Prime Time : Will I&B take a note ?

• If condom ads are banned between 6AM – 10PM, what about profanity , nudity in Telugu news channels ?
• Will the government take a note of the absurdity that children are exposed to on news channels?
• High time for News channels to filter live debates content using new age technology

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) in December 2017, issued an order banning the broadcast of condoms advertisements between 6 am in the morning to 10 pm at night, as it had received multiple complaints regarding their adverse impact on children. If an advertisement of condoms alleged to be indecent, what about the debates in Telugu Channels where “a self-proclaimed critic asks a co-participant with whom he had sex last night’ or “some ladies asking a perverted director on live television if the filmmaker had sex with the porn star” or “A filmmaker using his perverted intelligence to abuse people , who object his cheap movies , especially by belittling ladies” . In addition there is a popular cinema writer Posani who uses freeflow of choicest abuses on live television and broadcasters do nothing about it for TRPs. Worst part is lately these zero ethic channels are making a 100% porn film a prime discussion.

Any viewer watching the debates by Kathi Mahesh or Ram Gopal Varma Or Posani Krishna Murali likes on prime Telugu News channels can realise that there is an immediate need for censorship on live debates. Defying broadcast rules set by the Central Government, Telugu news channels mainly TV9, Mahaa news and ABN Andhra Jyothy have been telecasting adult content in the name of pathetic debate on a movie or movie star.

Teenagers and kids are being exposed to this filthy content and there are proves that viewing violent and aggressive behaviour on television does affect children. Because it is not just stunts, they are great at imitating people as well. With such debates happening on news channel, it is not very difficult for a person to be influenced.  In majority of the households there will be only one TV set and such telecasts may create a full-sized social problem. Even if the children have to be taught about sex education, debates are not the platform and Kathi Mahesh and Ram Gopal Varma are certainly not the right people. One argument some losers present is porn is widely available over the internet or in social media without censor, why we ( Channels ) need to filter ? To use social media, there is minimum age limit where as no such restrictions on children watching telugu news channels from living rooms.

Netflix, Amazon and even television providers have kids segment and parental locks. But Telugu news channels continue with unprotected airing of such content. Even in countries like USA,  where there are no restrictions on media,the debates on the news channels maintain decorum. Even a F word is censored in live instantly. But the telugu news channels are getting around with the strict rules.

It is evident that the news channels do not want to stop broadcasting some debates,or do not want censorship. But atleast they should think about live television debates’ censorship. Whenever the expletive, nudity, or moment of violence occurs, the producer can suppress the audio, pixellate the video, or black out the entire feed by merely using a dumb button. It is a widely available technology , easy to implement. It is mandatory to prevent few attention seeking , pervertly intelligent Individuals and TRP hungry news channels
