In a historic and energetic celebration of International Yoga Day 2025, Andhra Pradesh stunned the world by creating 2 Guinness World Records and 21 World Book of Records, placing itself firmly on the global map of wellness and community-driven events. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi gracing the grand event in Visakhapatnam and over 3 lakh people stretching in unison on the beachfront, the scale was truly jaw-dropping.
Andhra Pradesh was more than just a Yoga Day, it was a people’s movement. A record-breaking 2 crore people from every corner of the state took part in yoga sessions held simultaneously across 1,33,681 locations. From remote villages to iconic tourist spots, the spirit of Yoga echoed in every district.
The highlight, however, was the massive event at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam, where over 3 lakh participants performed yoga and Surya Namaskar together. This earned the state two Guinness World Records, one for the most number of people performing yoga in a single venue and another for the most number of people performing Sun Salutations together.
The numbers tell a story of sheer planning and people’s passion. A whopping 2.44 crore people registered for the event. Over 1.89 crore certificates were issued, recognizing the efforts of citizens, trainers, health workers, police, teachers, senior citizens, and even prisoners. From medical camps to toilets, mats, and transportation, the event was a masterclass in execution.
9 Navy ships joined the celebration along the coast, while 70 ambulances and more than 2000 health personnel ensured the well-being of participants. Nearly 5 lakh T-shirts and mats were distributed, and more than 4600 stewards along with 1438 demonstrators and 907 yoga instructors helped manage the mega event smoothly.
Yoga sessions were held with tribal students, fishermen, disabled individuals, jail inmates, and even at religious and archaeological sites. Families, health workers, and teachers turned up in massive numbers, all contributing to the state’s record haul in the World Book of Records.
From the Kuchipudi human chain to synchronized yoga on the beach, Andhra Pradesh showed that yoga is not just exercise,it’s culture, community, and celebration. The “Yogandhra 2025” campaign proved how community spirit, government coordination, and cultural pride can come together to create history. Andhra Pradesh has not only raised the bar for International Yoga Day but also inspired the rest of the country and the world to embrace yoga in its truest form.
