Andhra Pradesh is set to create 5 lakh jobs within a year through an innovative action plan, announced Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy. This scheme, unprecedented in India, aims to generate 20 lakh jobs over five years for the state’s youth.
The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a skill assessment program for all graduates in the state. “We will conduct aptitude tests to evaluate graduates’ skills and match them with the requirements of existing and upcoming industries,” explained the Minister.
As part of the “One Home One Entrepreneur” vision, the government has already conducted sample tests for about 1,000 people at Sachivalayam. The preliminary results revealed that many candidates, especially engineering graduates, are job-ready with minimal additional training.
Engineering graduates demonstrated strong skill sets that require little additional training before placement. However, science and commerce graduates need some upskilling before entering the workforce.
The Andhra Pradesh government is establishing a dedicated monitoring agency and survey platform to oversee this ambitious employment drive. This system will track progress and ensure the initiative meets its targets.
The minister expressed confidence that this comprehensive approach would transform Telangana’s employment landscape, making it a model for other states to follow in tackling unemployment challenges.
