Justice Praveen Kumar was sworn in as the first Chief Judge of residual Andhra Pradesh’s High Court. Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the swearing-in function while Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, ministers and others were present. The venue was the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada. Along Chief Judge, a total of 13 judges were sworn in on the occasion.

The dream of AP High Court in the new capital city of AP came true four and half years after the state was divided. About 9 court halls are made ready for the High Court functioning at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office while another court hall is made available at the R&B office premises in Vijayawada city limits.

As part of the swearing in function, the judges arrived a day ahead and they are accommodated at the State Guest House in the city and also various hotels here. They came here in a special bus from Hyderabad. They were accorded an emotional farewell by their counterparts at the Telangana High Court.

The AP government made its best efforts to make arrangements for High Court to function from Amaravati limits within the limited time available. With this, one of the major issues between AP and Telangana was settled.
