The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met with a humiliating defeat in Telangana polls though PM Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah, 10 Union Ministers and four chief ministers including UP CM Yogi Adityanath campaigned. The question in front of BJP leaders now is what was the reason for this defeat.
The BJP Telangana leaders expressed bitterness and anger over the attitude of party national leaders. At a core committee meeting to discuss reasons for defeat, they said every top leader from Delhi and BJP union minister has praised KCR very highly during their visits to Hyderabad. They spoke well about the administration and development under the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government.
If this is how the BJP national leaders behave during their visits to Telangana, then there will be no scope for the party to rise again and counter KCR. The situation is no better in Andhra Pradesh where the party is scoring another self-goal by associating with the YSR Congress party and Jana Sena party.
BJP national leaders like GVL Narasimha Rao are only criticising CM Chandrababu Naidu but going soft on Jaganmohan Reddy and Pawan. This is giving wrong signals about secret deals between BJP, Jagan and Pawan. Just like in Telangana, the AP voters will also ignore the BJP as they will see it as a battler between TDP, YCP and Jana Sena.
