In a major development linked to the 2021 attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) headquarters, the Andhra Pradesh CID has registered a case against Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, former MLA of Mangalagiri. He has now been named as the 127th accused in this politically sensitive case.
On October 19, 2021, during the rule of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), the TDP central office in Mangalagiri was allegedly attacked by a mob backed by the ruling party. Despite the violent nature of the attack ,where office staff were assaulted, property damaged, and an attempt to murder was reported ,the then government did not initiate any legal action. Instead, TDP leaders themselves faced SC/ST Atrocity cases, raising eyebrows across political circles.
After the TDP coalition government took charge in Andhra Pradesh, the investigation was handed over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). The CID launched a fresh probe and identified that the attack was not spontaneous but a well-planned act. The conspiracy, it claims, was orchestrated under the guidance of senior YSRCP leaders, including MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Talasila Raghuram, former Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh, and Vijayawada East YSRCP in-charge Devineni Avinash.
CID investigations revealed that hundreds of YSRCP supporters and known rowdy-sheeters were involved in the violent incident. They allegedly stormed the TDP office, damaged vehicles, smashed glass panels, and created chaos for over 30 minutes before fleeing the scene.
Based on statements given by previously arrested and questioned individuals, CID had earlier listed Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy as the 120th accused. Recently, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy was questioned at the CID office in Guntur, and now his name has officially been added to the case.
