Acting upon confirmation from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on the leakage of EAMCET-2 question paper, a high level meeting, headed by the Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, on Friday decided to cancel the test. It has been decided to go for a fresh notification for EAMCET-3 in August first week and the councelling session be conducted by the month end.

Much to the dismay of 56,000 students and parents, the Chief Minister made this announcement after reviewing the pros and cons with the Ministers Kadiam Srihari and Laxma Reddy and other top officials, including the DGP Anurag Sharma. Students need not pay any fee to appear for the entrance test this time. Apparently to avoid legal complications, an announcement with this effect was not made on Friday. An official communication may be released on Monday.

According to the Medical Council of India’s schedule, Medicine and Dental classes should begin from September 1.

A number of students, parents and relatives of the effected students had demanded that a way out should be found without cancelling the exam. They gathered in front of the Secretariat and Osmania University to force the government.

The officials elaborated the Chief Minister as to how the question paper was leaked and the number of students got benefited out of it. They reviewed the decisions of various state governments when such leakages took place in the past. The CM asked the police to take stringent action against the kingpins of the leakage along with those who got the question paper by paying money. Various student organizations, however, decided to protest the government decision.
