Six months after the AIADMK split into two warring factions of AIADMK (Amma) headed by O.Paneerselvam and AIADMK (PTA) headed by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami formally merged on Monday.
Three time Chief Minister OPS was sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister in the EPS cabinet at a ceremony to be held at Raj Bhavan. Four other leaders of his faction were given ministerial posts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to congratulate OPS and said “Centre assures all possible support to CM Thiru Edappadi K. Palaniswami & Dy CM Thiru O Panneerselvam for the growth of TN.”
CM EPS and OPS paid tributes to late J Jayalalithaa at her Marina Beach memorial where everything began in first place. They paid floral tributes at MGR Memorial in Chennai as well.
EPS said that the 11 member coordination committee will run the party. OPS following the merger said, “The burden in my heart is gone. No one can separate us, we are children of Amma and we are brothers”. He also reportedly said that the Merger has brought tremendous joy to lakhs of party followers.
TTV Dinakaran and Sasikala faction said that it’s an act of fooling the people and party cadre. It may be recalled that the story began with the appointment of Sasikala as the AIADMK General Secretary.
